West Virginia: The Castle Doctrine

It comes down to a simple question...how would you react if someone was trying to enter your home uninvited...and possibly not with the best of intentions? It all goes back to a saying which came about centuries ago."The Castle Doctrine came from English law, based on the saying, 'a man's home is his castle'," says local attorney Bill Richardson. "What is contained in your home is your family, your most precious asset as a human."

Smile Castle Doctrine

It should be mandatory in all states

But what has come to be known as the Castle Law was enacted just last year, in both West Virginia and Ohio. But the intent was the same: giving citizens the right to defend themselves, including with weapons, to ensure their safety in their own home

Well,

my reaction to someone breaking in without the best of intentions would be to have both hands on my 12 gauge 870 loaded with alternating slug and double ought buckshot loads.

Agression must be met with superior defense.

The lives of my family members are important.

here in Mo. we have the castle doctrine and your automobile is also considered your home so you are allowed to protect yourself and family while out in your car just as if you were at home in your house.

HB 40, permitting the "Castle Doctrine" here in Pennsylvania, is currently up for consideration by the State Judiciary. I've posted relevant info here under the Pennsylvania forum and have also written the state representatives. From what I understand, HB40 has a strong chance of being enacted into law. I agree with those above who believe that the Castle Doctrine should be the law in all states.
