Michigan: Detroit City Council exercises Right-to-Carry
By Thanksgiving, five members of the of the newly elected Detroit City Council will be exercising their Right-to-Carry.Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley says Tuesday that Charles Pugh, Kwame Kenyatta, James Tate and Gary Brown have said they are usually armed. And Rev. Andre Spivey, pastor of St. Paul AME, said he soon plans to get his concealed weapon permit.
Interesting. I don't have a problem with the two ex-cops carrying; presumably they know what they are doing. Two of the others sound like thugs turned politicans, though; and the minister is simply exercising his Second Amendment rights.
Does either the City of Detroit or the state of Michigan have a requirement that people with CCWs have to receive training before the permit is issued? I'd say the two ex-thugs and the minister need some. Not in how to hit what they point at half as much as when to draw - and when not to.
