Another CMP affiliated club

If you are looking for a club to belong to to fullfill that part of membership to be able to purchase from CMP here is one. They are a new club just getting established, they will cover both Garand and Carbines in discussion
Membership dues are $14.00 per year and run from the day you join for 365 days. Some clubs membership is from a set date, not from when you join
http://www.m1collectorsclub.com/Home.php
Go to the website and look around, remember they are just getting started so website is not finished

No newsletter. They have a website that they are trying to get going which will have info.
This is just getting started so it may take awhile
Its just another cheaper option than the GCA and it also runs for a whole year from the date you join not Sept-Sept like the GCA

I e-mailed them your question and here is the response:

"Quote

Good Question

The $14.00 cost for membership is used for membership benefits.

In general things like mailings, material operating cost, website fees, CPA fees. attorney fees, insurance and state fees, taxes, club sponsorship of sanctioned shooting events, recruitment printing cost and the list goes on.
Not one dime will go to any perks for the board members unlike other clubs.

There will be newsletters ,the first will be written by Bill Ricca
Not trying to steer you away from the GCA, this is just another alternative for those looking for a cheaper membership that runs all year long

Thanks for the 411 Orlando. Been wanting to join something to be able to partake in what the CMP has to offer. $14.00 is far more doable then $25 and up...

Sir,

I noticed the posting and just stopped in to add some additional information.
While the club is new many enhancements to the membership offerings are underway.
A club newsletter is in the works and should be avalible to members sometime in January.

The information will include some technical data, stories of decorated veterans, photos and a host of other information.

We want the newsletter to be a sample of all the membership not just technical data, articles about a rifle etc.

Members are welcome and encouraged to submit articles for review.

The Board of Directors has been discussing many new and exciting offerings for the members.

The club is the process of putting together Fun shoots, Postal Matches, CMP and NRA sanctioned events through out the county with the assistance of key members.

While the name of the club sounds like we are a group of collectors, the club is much much more.

The club is open to all members and honestly believes that sharing information is the key.

The club exist for the members. Since none of us profit in any way from the club every bit of the members fees will be and has been used to support the club activities.

As stated the club has met the CMP requirements for affiliation. Additionally we are affiliated with the NRA.

We want to be different than the other clubs.

Also as a point of clarification. One of the many articles in the newsletter is by Mr Ricca, but not written specifically for the M1CC. Bill has published and/ or written many articles throughout the years. Bill has allowed the club (me) access and use of some articles.

Mr. Ricca is a wealth of informtion and has been very helpful to me in obtaining information relating to the history of the Garand and Carbine. He is well known and respected in the collecting community. It is always a pleasure talking to him about these fine rifles.

In days of not knowing who you can trust to get a square deal, Bill is one of the few good guys left in the parts supply business. Each part is exactly as described.

Just wanted to add a point of clarity.

what is wrong with the old club

the more I think about it, what is wrong with the GCA and their magazine to want someone to join another club? I like the GCA magazine and now they are in color - no way - new club will ever put out a magazine like the GCA. I would rather spend $25 for the GCA magazine. Now if you want to spend the money, then join both clubs, but you will still enjoy the GCA magazine more

Like I have already stated several times this is just a cheaper option for someone who wants a membership that runs for the whole year not Sept-Sept like the GCA.
Its not a very good deal for someone who needs a membership in July and has to pay $25.00 for a couple of months in the GCA,

I'm not making excuses for anyone. Just giving info so someone can make their own educated decision
So you join the GCA in July for $25.00 ,two months later in Sept when membership expires I have to pay $25.00 again. Wow I just got two months membership for $25.00!!! Oh and a magazine.
With the other Club it runs for a year from the date you join.
Understand?

new club ?

well - if you or your friend were dumb enough to pay twice-then you got what you deserve. There are 10,000 members now in the GCA and when you can provide an equal magazine I will join your club

GCA Journal for Winter 2009

Just received my copy of the Garand Collectors Association journal, full of excellent articles and color photos. Some examples of the articles:

The Army Heritage and Educational Center showing US Army weapons from the Revolution to present - full of color photos of some interesting weapons including captured stuff too.

Other articles, The GCA Teams at Camp Perry, Featured Rifle: HRA/ICH 5216875, Lend Lease Red Band, Vietnam Garand in the wrong hands, plus an exc article on the Anniston Adventure sorting M1's

Some people will never understand.
What if a person is only interested in Carbines and couldn't care less about Garands. Should he still join the GCA because they have pretty colored pictures. I think not. Let each individual decide for himself. It's actually nice to have other options. I for one am glad to see another CMP affiliated club that caters to Carbine collectors as well as Garand collectors.
Thanks for the info Orlando. I understand.
