Associated Press Wednesday afternoon - Nine states are now in the fiscal danger zone.
California, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Wisconsin, Rhode Island,
Florida, and Arizona.
Although California gets almost all the national press it is important to note all these states face fiscal trauma either in terms of a much lower credit rating on their debt and/or severe tax increases. They are not viewed as capable of fixing their financial houses without drastic measures.
According to our unelected governor, New York State is broke.
Of course this is the same f()ckwit who wants to make the unproven, dangerous H1N1 swine flu vaccine madatory for all health care workers in the state, on penalty of losing their jobs if they don't get the shot by the end of this month. That's on hold temporarily thanks to an injunction granted by a state judge, so I don't know how much credence to place in anything the fool says.
Yep, we Florida State Employees are seeing constant retightening of the State Budgetary belt....... Can't get blood from a turnip - but they are dang sure trying!
My team has a critically needed printer virtually inop since they will not pay for service. We now buy our own basic office supplies. Our annual Christmas Celebration will NOT be held this year. Our mailroom has been closed down - we must now personally take things to other outlying sites. Raises..... year end bonuses..... NADA! We have seen a 15% reduction in manpower back in June 2009 - with more threatened later. All teams are at skeleton level now - all cuts were in 'worker bees', NOT mid and upper management. Go figure.

Cyrano, last I saw ... that mandate was repealed for the shear amount of health care professionals who did not want the vaccine.

Not repealed, Larry; just held up by an injunction. Neither f()ckwit Paterson nor this dictatorial Commissioner of Health named Daines has given up on this. They are trying to find a way to make the mandate permanent. Despite all the testimony against the vaccine - the latest is a teenager who came down with Guilliaume-Barre Syndrome as a direct result of it - and despite all the protesting by the People, they are still trying to ram it through the state legislature up in Albany. People have been testifying against the vaccine for two days in Albany, but those two and moron-mind legislators from New York City are hellbent to get a law that says health care professionals can't refuse mandatory inoculations pushed through against great resistance.
