I quit drinking shortly after getting out of the Service, blimey, it's been 15 years already?...LOL.

Like a complete dufus, I started smoking a few years later. I did that for just under a decade. God-willing this coming Pearl Harbour Day will mark two years since I quit smoking. I am still amazed about that, and it has been a bit easier than I thought it would (not being cocky about that, but it has not been "impossible" either).

I saved $5 (US) everyday until I had $600 (U.S.) and spent the cash on a 1888 dated Birmingham Small Arms made Mk.II Martini-Henry Rifle, something I had wanted for some time. Now I'm just grateful I don't have to step outside for a ciggie all the time.

As for now...I drink a lot of Reeds Ginger Ale...LOL.
Thanks
Mark

I smoked for 17 years and it's now been 17 years since my last cigarette. I quit cold turkey. Best thing I have ever done. Every time I see advertisements for a pack of Marlboro for 5 dollars a pack I just smile and thank the good lord I no longer have to put out that kind of money for 2 packs a day...

Are you addicted to anything that you know is going to leave you hurting? LOL

I will have long stints of time where I will eat bag after bag after bag of sunflower seeds (David are the best). I grab a handful and toss in me mouf and tuck them into the pocket of my left cheek and eat them one by one peelin the shell off the seed and spittin the shell. It gets to the point where the seeds will get the inside of my cheek a bit raw but not so bad as Atomic Fireballs did. My mouth would be falling apart from those haha.

As for other addictions...Coca~Cola. I swear if I stopped drinkin that stuff I would lose about 50lbs of my gut. Dad keeps callin me "Chubbanzo" or "Chubbs".

I wish you the best in quitting smoking. My mom has smoked for 50 years and she can't seem to quit. You have my sympathy. Just don't trade one addiction for another. You can do this! Kick those cigs in the butt! Yes, the pun was intended

Keep up the good work girl. I quit in 2003 right after my heart failure and surgery. As a matter of fact after that night I have not touched one. Don't even want one any more. U got it made now, just don't give up, never give up.
