I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, but after freezing my butt off in our deer blind with a crappy sleeping bag for several nights, I ordered a new one off of Amazon.
My criteria were:
1. Warmth
2. Non-nylon outer shell for quietness.
3. size-I'm 6'3" 215 lbs and need a little elbow room
Since it will stay in our deer blind mostly, weight and packability didn't matter much to me. I found a Coleman Ash Canyon kingsize bag rated @ 25*F. with a cotton outer shell\flannel inner that comes with it's own built-in bag\carry handle and it is awesome! It's not a high-dollar bag with an everyday price tag of $40, but it only cost me $14.99 because I used the $25 gift card that I got from filling out a shooting sports survey that a member posted here several weeks ago, plus I opted for the free 2nd-day shipping.
If you need a new bag and don't mind one with the heft and size of a VW Bug, this is a great bag.
I have had a Caribou Mountaineering Mummy Bag for 25 years now...Rated to -25 but I bet it will go lower. paid 125.00 for it and it has saved my butt on numerous occasions...

Turns out that sleeping bags are kinda like guns, knives, hatchets. When you find one a good'un that works for you you kinda get loyal to it. Bought my goose down mummy bag in Denver in 1976 and it's still keeping me warm as toast.
Moose- I have a Caribou Mountaneering as well and love it. I also have a German Army Mountain Bag that has sleeves on it and a zipper at the bottom so you can roll it up and wear it like a jacket. The bag rolls up into the hood !!

Wow!
There's some versatility designed into that bag...
...and, it'd sure be handy 'round these parts of a frigid winter night.
Tim, that's on big deer blind. Congrats
25 Degree rating doesn't mean your be warm and comfy at 25, just means you won't die at 25 degrees.
#1. Do you have a pad. A pad will insulate you from the underside temps.
#2. How about a used GI sleeping bag cover from Pool surplus. It will at maybe 10 degrees to rating.
Sportsman's guide has a lot of low cost sleeping bags. The SG Company.com ???
#3. A mummy type will cover your head. Wear a wool or ployrop watch cap to bed and also dry wool socks anlong with polypro long underware. SG Company has some excellant mid wieght expedition polypros.
#4. A polyester fleece liner works too

LOL, don't make that pedestal too high, Mike. Our deer blind is a stand-up sleeper off of a Mack truck and it still has the bunk in it. We've got a propane heater in it as well, but I don't like to run it at night due to the carbon monoxide and the chances of something (sleeping bag, t-shirt, grandson's hand, etc.) ending up on top of it while it's burning.
