Armistice Day/Remembrance Day
Hello
I understand that today, 11 Nov. is celebrated as Veterans Day (here in the United States).
I think I might be the only person who is 38 years of age who calls 11 Nov. "Armistice Day". My Dad is an 86 year old WWII Veteran and that is what we called this day when I grew up. That just stuck and I still call it that today. I guess maybe with me being a Veteran myself, I might think that every other day should be Veterans Day.
I still see 11 Nov. as the end of the Great War. I had one Grand Dad and two Great Uncles who Served in the Great War.
Also I'd like to say to all family, friends, members of this forum in the United Kingdom and the other nations of the British Commonwealth, to have a good Remembrance Day. Both of my parents were second generation US born this side of England. I have checked the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site and there are quite a few people from both World Wars listed with my family name, almost positive some were related to me.
So, today if you get a chance, please remember those Veterans as well.
I posted this topic because it does weigh on my mind, I did not mean to upset anyone.
Thank You
Mark

We still remember ALL of those who served under many a flag !! To all my Brit comrades, to the few Canadians, and to the Israelis who served under me. May God find you a better place than I met you. And remember, you still owe me a beer !!

That's funny as my mom, 86, also calls it "Armistice Day"".. Whatever we call it, let's honor it forever...
