I have 2, 50 cal ammo cans fulll of old obselete ammo. I also have 2 old wood ammo crates. Does anyone collect old ammo like I do?
Also does anyone else have any old wood ammo crates or have you seen any? I was wondering how rare these were.
Ill take some pics of the old ammo when I can.

Old ammunition crates are quite collectible.They make a nice addition to cartridge collections.Like original ammo boxes,the better the condition the more they are worth.I started out to just acquire a few old shells as accessory items for collectible firearms I owned.Then it was full boxes of shells of the period,then a few old powder cans,hey how about an ammo crate or two,maybe some original reloading tools and a mold.Then I found the International Ammunition Association,Reloading Tool Collectors Assoc.Now I have "stuff"in showcases,stuck in drawers,in the closet,boxes stuck everywhere.I have been infected for many years,there is no cure.Neither is there an end to what you can find.I must go,a friend said he found a few old shells when cleaning out a house he bought,treasures await.
What JimBob said. I have a whole bunch of oddball .22 rf stuff, some of it suffering from the "green disease" and some not. Know anyone that collects old packages of BB's? I have several types of factory packages - plastic bags, boxes, tubes, tins, etc - with the BB's in them.

I have a bunch of old , obsolete and semi-obsolete cartridges, old shotgun shells, and an old wooden .45 ACP crate with the brass wing nuts...
I sold some to My favorite gun store in Anchorage for His collection and Display...

Capt'n. I have a few old crates including a dynamite crate. My favorite is a "Climax" Black Paper Shells crate. I think made by UMC. I use an old artillary crate to store my boxed fishing reels.
Through the years of collecting I've also assembled a pretty good assortment of old ammo and components although I don't specifically collect them. My favorite there is a box of 25 primed 45-90 Winchester brass that looks like it just came off the hardware store shelf a hundred or so years ago.
Somewhere I stumbled on a full box of US marked skeet shells. I haven't looked at them for a while and forget the maker.
