Hope you get this taken care of easily and inexpensively, Billy. Electricity really bothers me, probably because I don't understand it. Except how my tin foil hat works in relation to the power supply!

"the wiring in my new to me mobile home is acting up.
all my lights are dimming and brightening at random ."

Hope it's just a loose connection, that's the usual culprit for those symptoms. That can be easy ehough to correct, and safe too IF you turn off the main breakers. BUT, if it's new enough, you should have some sort of manufactor's warrantee, maybe?

You can temporarily use a linear accelerator, but may wind up in a subparallel universe untill you get the magnometer back on line.

If you weren't running 10 lead melting pots on the same extension cord that probably wouldn't happen.

thats a good idea and i would recomend trying that too, the problem might be varying voltages. how ever it still would be neccesary to check the trailers electricals for damage or problems.

i am thinking that a ground is messed up somewhere. here in Guntucky trailer fires are common, some for electrical issues, some out of utterly sheer stupidity. even had a case of a 3year old touched the skin on the family trailer and was electrocuted.

but i would also suggest if you seek professional help try to find an electrician who is well versed in the excentricity's of trailers. Bubba might be nice and says he knows it all, check him out to be sure.

if not corrected you may lose your trailer and stuff, or at the worst...your life.

Easy fix... You are going to need a good priest, some holy water, and a crucifix. A good exorcism will take care of those problems...

billy you recieved some good advice. I'll only add that you might ought to put up a couple smoke detectors if you don't have any already.

A lot of people are right about the aluminum wiring. They tend to expand and contract with heat and cold causing loose connections. Turn off the main breaker and check all the connections on all the breakers to see if they are tight. Another cause could be an overloaded panel. You would need an electrical multimeter with an amprobe to check the amp draw on the main circuit. The lights usually dim when there is more current than the wiring is rated for. Especially if high amp appliances are running at the time ie: Microwave oven, AC,TV. Another possibility is a bad ballast on the light fixture they tend to buzz when they are ready to go out. It sounds like a dangerous situation and I would recommend that you have it checked out by a qualified electrician. Mobile homes are very quick to burn and you might not have time to exit in case of a fire. Your life is worth a lot more than the electrician's bill. Don't take any chances on this one and get it checked out asap. Good luck.

Dang, it is good to have the right friends!!! That is what I miss most about park living. Back then I had an A/C guy down the block an auto mechanic across the street, a finish carpenter on the left and a plumber on the next block. All would do side jobs with company parts for a case of beer!

I am glad you are back grounded, Billy!

Glad it's fixed, billy. But for safety's sake, follow AH's advice and get yourself a couple of smoke detectors if you already don't have them. Canaries or other birds don't provide enough advance notice!!!!

Ditto on shutting off the main. It's not unheard of to have a feed from two circuits and that is another scary proposition.
