I use remington gun grease on the rails or tetra gun grease. Rack the slide a few times and wipe off the excesse it soaks into the metal and leaves a nice film.
Couple of things to look out for. You didn't say which pistol. If it has a polymer frame or any polymer parts, best not to use a petroleum based lubricant. Hoppe's makes both - petroleum based & non-petroleum. Also, nickle plating does not like amonia. Some cleaners, such as Hoppe's #9 has amonia in it. Just be sure to check the labels. One other thing, Acetate can be found in some cleaners & "matte" finishes do not like it. Hope this helps.

I have a few bottles of surplus U.S. Issue oil, I think I will be using that for a long time to come LOL. Also have some of the U.S. Issue bore cleaner that will keep me supplied for a bit.
Thanks
Mark

I don't know about "other" polymer frames, but during the armorer's class, the Glock could be cleaned in jet fuel and it will not be a problem. Mobil One synthetic oil. One quart will last a long, long time, and cheap too.

The first and pain one I use if made by Chem-Pak It's a CLP called Gun Sav'r. Strange thing is, I have and cal only ever and have ever found it at one local gun shop. I've searched the internet using the product # right off the spray can and by name. the only product that ever comes up made by Chem-Pak is their stock oil/stain.
It's the 3rd can from the left in the back row in the picture below.
The only other stuff I use, and I only use it on a few particular firearms is Gun Butter.
There's a lot of different products out there. And it usually comes down to each their own and what a person likes and seems to work best for them. These two I've listed I prefer and have worked best for me and neither will harm any finish, polymer or metal frame. And the Gun Butter Grease I use on those that require a little grease, obviously...

I have used hoppies, rem oil, CLP breakfree, and currently use butches, very nice it just feels like it is slicker than any thing I have used in the past.
I have read that you dont want to use wd-40. when exposed to high heat it will leave a very hard to remove layer of carbon on your guns metal parts.
Glockmeister, your gun lube collection rivals mine. It's funny how that stuff collects
I've been using EEZOX for about a year now and it's the best general lube I have seen to date. Tetra grease on 1911's and M1A's or when grease is called for.
