At a gun show today, I saw a Para/Colt hybrid. The frame, trigger, etc. were from Para Ordnance, the short slide and barrel were Colt. The guy said the magazines held 14 rounds plus 1 in the chamber, giving 15 rounds in a package that was much like a Commander, but fatter in the grip. He said Para made them that way for a while, buying the slide and barrel from Colt and combining them with the Para lower assembly. He was asking $650 for it, which seems like a decent enough price if the thing functions reliably. I have questions about how well the magazines might work, or what could be done if they don't, so passed on it. Did you guys ever hear of this factory hybrid?

I actually have one like this. If serial number begins with "PG", it is a frame kit that Para sold. I have one given to me by my grandfather. He must have taken the frame kit and built an officer's length pistol. It is really nice, and one of my favorite pistols.

The information on the frame kit is straight from Para-Ordnance. I could not ever find any information on this pistol, so I called the manufacturer.

I don't know exactly how many rounds I have fired through it (a bunch), but I have never had an issue with the magazines.
