I am thinking a bolt action with a detachable mag in .416 barret

Welllllll, today one of those 77 hawkeye compacts (12.5 LOP) .308 witha Leupold 1.5-5. TOMORROW, probably something with a mauser action in .30/06, or .35 Whelen with a 2x7 Leupold, and good sleek dark walnut.

Dream RIFLE? Singular? Who only has one Dream Rifle? I've got several.

Winchester Model 88 in .358 Winchester

Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage

And a bunch more too.

Actually it is the rifle I am working on now. It is a J.C. Higgins Mauser in .30/06.
I'm cleaning up the stock, and looking for a two leaf rear sight plus a steel butt plate and pistol grip cap to finish up the rifle.
I would use this as my main Hunting rifle. Where I live and hunt a long shot is about 200 yrds or so. A good hard hitting but light and no non-sense rifle is what I'm trying to put together. This F.N. action Mauser should due nicely. Andy

My dream rifle right now is a Martini-action in 7.62X38R Nagant caliber. Just because it would be very unique!
Also like to have that same action in 5.7 FN caliber. Make a nifty little 'small varmint' rifle.

toss up between three rifles, 1 73 winchester in 44-40 with a 30" barrel, A savage 99 in 250-3000, and something in a 33OKH. All with wood stocks of course. All have reasons that boil down to just a strong want. Have shot and enjoyed all but the 33 but am a huge elmer fan, so I should have a rifle in one of his cartridges.

I would love to have a M1a. I love the look and feel of them, and they are without a doubt one of the finest battle rifles ever! My Dad carried one in Vietnam, and he loved his...so I would want one just to let him shoot it, if for no other reason.

A Winchester 1895 "Big Medicine" .405win...maybe not one this fancy though LOL. Why? because T. Roosevelt carried one (should be reason enough) and I love their look, and it's something not everyone has!

My own design. Semi-auto, piston operated. .338 Lapua. Bipod. Best scope I can afford. Suppressed.

Ah, the dream gun. So many possibilities, but picking just one? My dream gun would be a real M-14 with enough magazines and ammo to last me a lifetime. Between that and a Sharps replica of the Quigley rifle, I think I almost have everything that I need.

One more, an AR-10 SASS in 300 WSM with GOOD magazines.

Jim
