Chrome plated gas tube

Would chrome plating the gas tube increase accuracy by way of creating a tighter smoother finish for the gas piston to travel? Looks like it would make cleaining a breeze, and also lessen friction.

Not the gas tube, the Piston is. I would think it would make a difference. Also you should polish your bolt carrier/hammer.

In this case I'd say probably not as much as a regular/consistant detailed cleaning of the gas tube, piston, gas port and block. Of course it may be a good idea to inspect for any roughness, burrs that may cause fouling in spots and polish those areas smooth.

But, I'd be more concerned with fit/tighteness of the gas tube and handguards on the rifle.
