Marlin 795s are currently on sale at Dick's for $99.99 after the $20.00 Marlin rebate. Come with a 10 round mag and are very accurate and fun to shoot. I have two of them. One shoots .5-.75"@ 50 yards with CCI SV and a Bushnell 3-9x32 scope. The other has a cheap 4x32 BSA scope and shot under 1" @ 50 yards with Winchester 555 bulk ammo the only time I had it out.
Check the crown before you buy. If okay, you're good to go.
Jerry Bud's is the best place to buy because shipping is in there low price. Unless you have a big box store that has them on sale like Tank50 posted.
I went to a site that claims to be the biggest gun supplier in the nation that my friend with an ffl use's most of the time.
Dealer cost on the Savage you posted the picture of is $126.36. Bud's price is $ 141.00 And being an internet purchase you should'nt have to pay sales tax though of course you need an FFL to buy from Bud's and that may cost you 10 to 25 bucks for the transfer fee.
Though Bud's probable buys in bulk. Bud's price is hard to beat because shipping is included in the $141.00.
The Marlin dealer cost at the same site I went to is $ 122.73...A.H

Sad part is, with a little fiddlin with, it'll probably outshoot your Ruger
There's every good item I've found for so far for Marlin 795's...60 is the same action, different magazine....so you can use the same improvement/accurizing techniches as the model 60.
I bought one of these stocks from Numrich that were meant for the older model 70HC, the daddy of the 795...and I'm searching for a 70-S or 795SS (stainless versions) to put in it
Pretty bad when you buy the accessories BEFORE you even get the gun, eh??
Heck, I stuck a sling on the stock last night...LOL

Well, believe it or not, I have a Marlin 60 that will shoot with just about anything. It hangs in there with my Ruger M77/22 that cost twice as much. I have shot more keyholes at 50yrds, rabbits, squirrels, a Quail or two, Racoons, Skunks and Soda Cans with the Marlin 60 than with the new Ruger, and will pull it out of the closet first. I just have practiced much with the Ruger, but by no means does it make the M77/22 a bad rifle, but the Ruger is expensive. So for your daughter, the Marlin 60 can be beat! Good Luck!
