Question What is the lowest average reloading cost, now?

Am contemplating buying my first Garand next year in Anniston, AL.

As I don't yet have reload gear, what is the average cost now with today's primers (can't find any), bullets, powder, after your gear is paid for?

The gear will be paid for by my Lee-Enfields, have the book, read lots about it etc, and have reloaded once with a friend who retired from the Navy Marksmanship Team .

primers go for anywhere from $30-35 per 1000 around here then it's $25-27 a pound of Garand friendly powder, $15-30 for 100 bullets depending on what they are and what they're for, then theres the cost of brass if you aren't reusing add in however much an equipment kit is and there ya go

Thanks.

It looks like its a good bit over .30/round, about .35, before even factoring in reuseable ammo (?).
I assumed, along with the primers, 500 reloads for that much powder, as a wild guess, plus the other figures.

it all depends on what ammo youre comparing against. if youre buying the greek surp stuff then its a lot cheaper than the $20/20 of american eagle or $35/20 of the hornady stuff. reloading still winds up cheaper once you load a few 100

Not sure what my cost is but I'd bet it's real cheap. I bought an M1 to hunt with. I pull the FMJ from military rounds and replace with Sierra 150 grain hunting bullets. I use the military powder and primers. I do this with an impact puller and a Lee hand loader. Works real good and accuracy has not been comprimised.

Groan,

with the amount of hoarding/panic buying and (who knows?) amount of production in components cost is sort of like looking at a roller coaster ride from the parking lot. An answer today, however valid, may not be valid in six weeks.
