I got (bought) a CZ 452 a couple of weeks ago, foolishly before doing my home work. After the purchase I discovered it's flaw, a lousy trigger, creep rough, etc. I researched the web and saw the various "kits" to correct the problems, also a fix that shimed the trigger itself. I did a modification of that job and after replacing the spring, I have a wonderful trigger. I used to shoot a Remington Mod. 37A with the "miracle trigger" and I think this is just as good. (my memory is going tough) Preliminary sshooting shows the gun to be very accurate, I am pleased.
that has to be a fluke.. while a lot of CZ's I pick up have a little grittiness in the bolt, the triggers have always been sweet. I have a CZ 22 mannlicher, and the trigger was super right out of the box, but the bolt was as I said, gritty, which was settled with a bit of compound and FP-10.

This happens as the Manufacturers are trying to cut production costs to please the bean counters running things. They no longer do the final polishing and fitting that requires hand work - too expensive, and cuts into the profit margin.

I don't think it was a "fluke" as all of the 452's they had were about the same, lots of creep and rough to boot. There is a great deal of info on the web about how to deal with this though and a couple of inexpensive kits available too. Must be a common problem, probably caused by our tort laws.
Not much to tell, I just bent a small U shaped piece of shim stock and epoxied it on the trigger just behind the sear notch to reduce the sear engagement and put in a lighter spring. Now there is almost no perceptable creep and the trigger is much lighter. It is a modification of a technique I found on the internet. they just epoxied a piece of shim on top of the trigger, I figured a saddle would give me more surface for the epoxy.
Been lookin at the 452 myself----not that I need another gun---something to shoot at the range that doesn't cost like my M1 Garand in ammo.
So, are all you happy with your 452s given they may need some mods?
I have seen here that CZ is comin out with a new line of rimfire riflles?
Should I wait, or jump on a 452 for $399---- I know---you bought one for ? back in ?
Im also looking at Ruger, Savage, but have seen here that CZ is much more of a rifle and acuracy.
Chime in and post your thoughts
I ordered my 452 from a local gun shop for 380.00, the lux with the mannlicher stock. Maybe mine was a fluke in that I didn;t have to mess with the trigger.
It was about three years ago and maybe now they just don't take the time to polish everything as you say.
The accuracy I've experienced is everything it's supposed to be, and I like the shorter barrel. The standard 452 feels like a kentucky rifle, long as it is.

Hey CJ Thanks for your reply,
My son has CZ in 85combat and 45cal also and i love the quality that they have.
Im just torn between spending the extra dime for the 22--I know I cant go wrong with
the CZ Just here wondering what you guys think.
Im lookin for a good plinkit gun straight and tru--scope--the 452 has no iron--dont care---
My M1 is the tru shooter---cost too much to shoot. looking for something that will hold its value and take my grandskids one day--when I get some--
I love this sport of shooting and talking about it!
I just picked up a 452 a couple of weeks ago, not sure whaat modle though as from all i've read it doesn't match and of the variants directly. 25+" Bbl, hooded adj front sight, Sks style rear sight, & 10 round mag. At any rate the main reason I picked it up was because uf the exceptional trigger & long bbl. Paid $400 and so far am very pleased- topped it off with a Bsa "cats eye" and accuracy seems more limited by my being out of practice than anything else.
Bought mine about two years ago, the 452FS "Mannlicher." I found the trigger to be very good. This was before the bottom fell out of the economy at the end of '08. It is exceptionally accurate with the tangent sights and especially with a scope.

Correction... I did some more looking and found that I have a 452 Ultra Lux with a 28" Bbl. I know it's not shown in the manual that came with it and then say's "Super Exclusive" on the barrel but all of the features and hardware are for the Ultra Lux model on the CZ USA website.

I have 2 of the first 2000 Super Brno SAA2500 Ultra Lux to hit the US Market back in 2002. Both triggers were pretty good, but I installed the Brooks trigger modifications. Both will shoot even the cheap ammo very well. This one has a Bushnell 4-12X40 AO mounted in Millett rings.
I have the American. It shoots cheap ammo good. Had a Lux
with walnut stock and it shot good but sold it. My American
shoots about as good as my Cooper and cost a lot less. I
put the AS sear in it and a lighter spring. 1.5 lb pull and
no creep.

I know this is an old thread but I just have to add my two bits worth. I just purchased my 4th CZ rifle and am reeally considering the purchase of a fifth one. I have a 453 American with a Mueller scope, a 452 Full Stock, a 452 Lux and just picked up a 550 Full stock in 308 Winchester. I'm looking at a 527 Full Stock (I just have to justify it to myself which shouldn't be too hard to do) just because it has such great furniture!
Anyway, all I have to say is they have all had great triggers and shot really accurately and consistantly right out of the box. I am sold on these blood things and the become kind of addictive! lol
