Yup, 20,000 miles a 1/4 mile at a time.
You've got a nice car in the making.. Good luck with it.

I had a 34 Ford street rod yrs ago. It was a 4-door, 330 Olds, with a B&M hydro-stick. It was called the "Gold-digger", painted gold with a mural on the back, with blue windows. It was a "ratrad" before there were ratrads. It was fender-less, just a body sitting on the frame, but what a car.

Bless you, Billy Boy! I'm so damm sick of seeing Ford Rods with Gov't Motors drivetrains that I'm ready to puke. A buddy of mine and I were going to build a 55 Chevy with Ford 460\C6\9" drivetrain, but the lil' biotch we were buying the body from backed out when he heard what we wanted to do. I don't have any SBF parts, but I do work at an auto repair shop so if I can help in the parts procurement or technical assistance department, let me know.

cool!
there is a neat story behind this project.
i been driving by this house that has a little mechanic on duty sign out front for years.
i was driving the willys and i stopped one day to see what was up.
and met this older fella that had a yard fulla these hotrods.
we ended up being friends.
one day i called him up and asked him if he wanted to go set off some tannerite targets.
i told him i thought his cars were the coolest and he offered to help me build one.
i came over the next day and asked.
are you serious about this build.
his response was.
i am if you are.
i handed him a henry big boy with marbles sight and said.
hows this for a down payment (i knew he was in love with it)
he sez.
lets go out back and find you a body.
turns out he has been building stock ,vintage and hotrods for 45 years.
this guy KNOWS cars.
i am getting off easy for a few reasons.
1 he wants to build another rod
2 we are buddies
3 he already has many of the important parts
4 he is making me do all of the grunt work
our goal is to be driving this by this summer.

he is charging me (are you sitting down?)
$15 an hour for fabrication of frame, body etc.

everyday after work i got to the shop and there is my buddy doing fabrication on the body.
we have cut a section out of the bottom of everything that was eaten up by rust and replaced with new.
strengthened the dash by putting plate steel along the bottom edge.
lowered the windshield pillars 6"
chopped the doors 6"
we are installing 2" square tubing throughout to reinforce the windshield/body etc.
there are BIG dents in the back section of the cab so we may have to fabricate a new one.
