There is at least a germ of truth in that. I've seen photographs of webs spun by wood spiders that were given LSD as part of an experiment. They were completely disjointed and full of holes. The spider on THC built a web that was crooked, and built it more slowly. I don't recall seeing webs made by spiders on alcohol, caffeine or cocaine.

i'm pretty sure i've seen actual experiments on spiders too. but the crack spider was pretty funny.
