I have not mentioned anything about forced labor. I don't even like the term eminent domain. What I say is that there are far too many people on welfare. Color has nothing to do with it, every ethnic group has their problems. How much money could we save this country if we put the slackers to work. Just think about it ,its a double win win situation. They are taken off the free payroll. They are getting a paycheck that they "earned", and are paying taxes. How to accomplish getting them off the dole is the big problem.

don't get me wrong, I'm very much against welfare (for the poor or the rich).

If someone buys a building and lets it sit and rot that's their business. I for one would love to live in a country where poor or weak or stupid people are allowed to starve in the street.

Having worked in some of these countries and seen what goes on, I cannot believe anyone could seriously think along these lines!

I was trying to be satyrical.
I live half way between beverly hills and Compton. my job lets see both sides. it may only be about 7 miles but it may as well be the other side of the earth.
Jobs are what's needed here. real jobs with real wages. I've spoken to gangsters and crack dealers. these guys are smart. and vicious. they'd fit right in at a board meeting. they are capitalism in it's purest form. they know what they are selling is ruining the community, but they gotta get paid. it's their american dream.

Don't say stuff like this. You're taking away the fear factor of the Right.

I've seen some of the work done by those guys, and it's still as strong and beautiful as ever. The granite stairs we used, to get into the Emigrant Wilderness, were built by the workers of the CCC. There are plaques installed in various areas, and they are still legible, after all the years and weather. And it's amazing how well fitted the stones are, in the stairways. It's all native granite, with very little concrete used to hold them, and they are a testament to the abilities of those men. The work had to be backbreaking difficult, as those stairs switch back and forth, up and down the ridges. They were built with the most rudimentary tools, and it made me proud to see what Americans can do, no matter the danger and difficulty.

As far as the forced labor idea, aren't we forced to support these people by working everyday, and paying taxes to survive ourselves. Good idea, at least we would get some return on our tax investment. Put them to work!

Rambo- I hope you don't really think that is the solution. What if they came for your Grandparents ??
Are you 100% Native American ?? I don't think so. So that makes you an immigrant. Grandparents on SSI and Medicaid ?? They are useless and prime candidates for the ovens !! You are a fool, in an idiot's costume !! Come on !! We are having an ADULT conversation, and you chime in with such infantile rhetoric... PLEASE !!

Adult conversation? Give me a break! This can't be a serious thread when people talk about forced labor camps or forced sterilizations of women. That was how Hitler and Stalin did it before realizing the futility and just started murdering the people that they felt didn't pull their weight. Once you start down that road it will be only a matter of time before someone comes for you.

look. we should all know that not everyone on welfare is a bum. I'm sure there are members of this forum who use government services. it's easy to target the 'others' in the inner cities.

we need to implement a tax strategy that encourages jobs here rather than fat stock market returns.

corporate responsibility and personal responsibility are what will save this country.

standing on the sidelines screaming 'socialism bad / capitalism good' won't do a thing.
