Change? Haven't seen it. Everything is the same as when Bush was in office. The two wars Bush started are still going on, the bailouts Bush started are still going on, Guantanamo still there, the decline of the economy that started under Bush is still going on, there is no health care yet just like under Bush, the crime rate in the country hasn't gone up or down so I'd say it's pretty much status quo from GW Bush and Obama. Nothings changed. All that's going on is speculation, or fear, of what may come. Remember the same feelings when the first Bush went out and the Clinton's came in? We got through that and life was good again, huh?
I think it all started down hill when the 1st bush got elected. Just that it's been such a slight down grade that we haven't noticed. Haven 't had a decent president since Reagan & I don't see one in the near future. But a 3rd grader would be better than what we have now.

Reagan? You mean the high taxer, inventor of borrow&spend? That's where the bad habits started.

Seems pretty serious...

...and could last for eight hours or more.

Maybe there's a chance to delay it for a few minutes...

...with a big bowl of vanilla ice cream, covered with caramel topping?

I think you'll find that Reagan CUT taxes. I think you'll also find that CONGRESS is who spends the money. Reagan cut taxes & revenue to the government almost doubled. But, when you give politicians, especially politicians in the house of representatives who do all the spending, they are going to blow it. Our social security & medicare system could have been solvent today if congress hadn't wasted it.

Very well said. You pretty much nailed just about everything that is wrong with America right now. All we here from thoses not in power is what everyone else is doing wrong. What I do'nt here is anyone with a better plan to fix what is wrong with this country. It makes me think back to the line in the second Terimator movie that the govenator said. "It's in your nature to destroy yourselves" Well it seems to be happening right now.

Back in 2006, a Russian economist advanced the opinion that the United States as we know it would Balkanize into half a dozen or more small nations by 2012 due to internal pressures. He may have a point if we can't get a handle on the illegal immigration problem, secure our borders and get our economy back under control.

The one guy, and yes only one who has actually got it figured out, gets demonised to the point that even conservatives don't give him the time of day, he is on every day and has been for the past 5 years. You can go back and see that what he was concerned was going on years ago and was being criticised then for saying it, the crap is happening just like he said. Where are the people, just the fact its ONE GUY and no one gives a SH&*( . I know what is going on and I'm not blind to it , but seems so many refuse to see it and after it happens just act bewildered.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step

The light fading in a persons eyes, the wounding of their spirit is NOT irreversable. And neither is the course this nations is faltering down. Restoration of the Spirit or if you prefer the soul of both this nation and any person begins with one step, one kind word, one random act of kindness, one candle held high in the dark to show the way to others, one sincere prayer...

I may say some unkind things here, rest assured they are not meant to hurt any one's feeling but I am concerned in what I have read and then re-read in this thread and I wanted to be damned sure I get it right. That there is no mistaking or twisting my words or what I mean by them.

I want each of you to look about and to think about all the good people that have created a family here, Chris may have designed this place, he may have created the structure. But the members all of us have created and formed the family, and friends if you think we aren't family in it's purest sense LOOK AGAIN. How many of us have prayed for others here in pain and need and I mean just here on this forum, just here at G&G? How many have come together and found for some what may be the first true friend they've ever had. How much help, advice, counseling and guidance has been offered and accepted freely here?

How many here have served this nation, their community, worked hard, raised families, lived and promoted good citizenship and involvement. How many here still feel a tightness in their throat when Old Glory is hoisted and the national anthem plays? How many here understand the cost of freedom?

Watch the news for a week, just a week.... Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and fires that damage peoples lives... THEN LOOK AGAIN , You'll see them like ghosts out of the dark they slowly filter in wanting nothing but to help their fellow man. Strangers with no stake, no gain sought, out of the dust and dark they come to put a hand out to those in need and pain. Strangers feeding the hungry, strangers searching for the lost, strangers seeking the injured, strangers comforting the wounded. For what purpose do they come?

Ask yourselves that and then tell me once more how lost America is. Do we have work to do? Of course, is it hopeless? Of course not. But it all has to start with one small voice in the darkness, one small voice of hope. I see that here everyday at G&G, one small voice, one family, one thought, simply to make things better. You needn't do much, you needn't form some vast charity. All you need is to take that first step towards a journey of a thousand miles.

What's really going to suck is that...when America is turned into this socialistic state...those of us who wish to be free will have no where left to go. We will be damned on this earth at the mercy of the "leaders" of various governments to hand down to us what they will. And, once they have their hands around our throats, there will be no stopping them, EVER...EVER again...
