Bosnian SKS Sniper

i received this rifle back in May thru a trade, it had an odd little rail attached to the left side that i originally thought that "bubba" had put on. then i remember reading about some weapons (SKS's) that Century Arms and Interordnance had imported back in 2002 that had "field expedient" rails attached during the Bosnian/Serb conflict from '95. After a little research turns out this is one of them. well, after searching high and low for a ZRAC M-89 scope that the rail is for, i realized that I could by a PSL or Rem 700 for what they are asking for them. so, I contacted Kalinka Optics about putting a POSP on it and for my B-day coming up I purchased the chosen optic. it is the 4X24 with the 400m Simonov ranging reticle. it sits a little high, but works well and has good, clear glass. now I'll quit rambling and show some pics.

Imc8541, Do you mind posting a pic of the actual rail itself. I am doing a write up on the rifles used in the Balkan conflicts and would appreciate the use of that photo as well, let me know.
That rifle is in pretty great shape, have you done any refininshing to it or painting, the front end looks like you gave it a touch of paint?
Thanks in advance!

sorry for the late response. here are pics of rail and weapon after I received it. the metal has been refinished with flat black Krylon. the green was a mistake after I put on the Tapco brake I picked up the wrong can to do touch up and just left it. the only permanent change i made was the rail was loose and attached thru the stock. you could see where the Zrack scope had been in place on the stock. I relieved the stock and attached the rail to the receiver so the scope would be more inline with the bore.

here is target with Chinese steel core 20 rounds at 100m's. fired 10, waited 5 mins, fired 10 more. exhaust pipe on right is 2" for comparison. i think it made an excellent DMR as it was intended.

Thanks for the responses Imc! That looks like an authentic FE marksman rifle to come out of the Balkans, good for you. You mind if I use those pic's of the rails? Just PM me your name if you want and I will see that it appears with them when I get published. (fingerscrossed)
The write up deals with the degradation of modern military tactics in a prolonged conflict, with emphasis on civilian fighting and urban areas.
