without pics, this thread holds no water....like an RV toilet without the flap, won't hold no poo. we demand PICS for proof of this expenditure.

Easily solved....show the auction pics! Just right click on the pics, and copy the address.

Russian Mosin Nagant 1943 Izhevsk M38 Refurb : Curios and Relics at GunBroker.com

Good buy.

Believe it or not, this 1943 rifle has a receiver with the low-wall cut. Those were discontinued in 1941. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinReceiver.htm

Other receiver features are correct for 1943 though like the rough external finish and unmachined right receiver bridge. I'll bet the Soviet machinist decided to make the extra cut.

When you get it, please take it apart and get the tang date. Some good pictures of the receiver would be great too.

Boy, those wartime stampings aren't easy to read! Or did they get scrubbed when the piece was rearsenaled?

I just bought one myself last Sunday at the Boise Gun Show, he was asking 119.99, but would not dicker much, got it for 114.99, clean, and counterbored and all the numbers that I could find match, took my Yankee Engineers head space gauge kit with me and they all checked out, also bought his last tuna tin of 440 rds for 99.00 as well, this being Albanian ammo, got a bunch of Bulgarian and I di like it, but he was telling me that the guys that shoot the Mosins alot like the Albanian, who knows if there is any truths to this or not, got it all cleaned up and ready to fire, but when I got it home I noticed the cleaning rod was missing, this will go well with my 2 M44's, thanks for letting me blab, also much lighter w/out the bayonet on it as well, these are fun shootin guns.

Well, I haven't shot anything other than Bulgarian LB out of my MNs. Can't attest to anything else. Wouldn't mind trying it out anyways...

I bought three M38's at the same price, a couple years ago.. I pulled them out of the box long enough to verify serial numbers to my bound book and to make sure they were OK.. All were excellent condition, not counterbored and loaded with cosmo.. The only other time they were out was when my book was inspected this spring...

WHY, WHY, WHY didn't I buy 30, or 300, rather than just 3??? I bought them purely because I knew the value would double or triple in a short time, and it did just that.. But why didn't I buy a bunch?

other than the fact that I'm a collector, not a dealer
