"Scout Scopes"

I understand that this has already been addressed, but since I can't find it please forgive me for bringing it up again.

I've mounted a cheap NCStar LER scope in place of my rear sight on my Mosin 91/30 and am slowly getting things right. What I'm finding is that parallax (if that's the right word) seems to be a huge issue. It seems to me that unless I can find a way to get my eye directly inline with the scope some error is introduced. I went to the range this weekend and after sighting in I fired about 10 rounds of Czech milsurp. I had a vertical dispersion of around one inch (100 meters), but a lateral dispersion of more like 6". I'm ordering a lace on cheek piece for my rifle to try and get a good, repeatable cheek weld so my eye gets right behind the scope each time.

Some of the good folks on the MN forum feel that it's not necessary to have your eye directly inline with the scope tube. Perhaps a scope with a parallax adjustment might make that true, but in the absence of such an adjustment is there a consensus here?

my understanding any scope under 10-11 power has the parallax fixed at a 100yds.
so I ASSume that any scope 12 and up should have the parallax adj., please chime in and correct and or debate this, thanks.

Yes and no. Most 22 scopes have the adjustment as well.

Your first problem is the scope is a cheapy. I had one on my m44 that i got for free, it would do the same thing there is too much recoil for that scope. The best thing that i can tell you is put that on an airsoft or something like that. With those scopes you really do get what you pay for.
