Well after much much much thought I am going to ditch my stock building idea, after the cost/benefit of the project I decided to pass. I am instead going to go ahead and sell my PSL and I think I am going to be picking up a PTR-91 once I make the sale.
I feel like a traitor! I hope my German inspired American rifle can get along with the Russians; I lost my Enfield for several months only to discover that the Russians had stuffed poor Lee in the closet.
I want to f2f it but I think I may have to ship it if I want to sell it, just not sure about how to ship the ammo with it or if you're even allowed to.

PTR-91's are nearly top o' the line as far as G3 replicas. An excellent choice for a battle rifle, but remember that ammo is going to be WAY more expensive than for the PSL. That's part of why my CETME, "Jessica", hasn't been fired in over a year.

Ya, that is a thing to consider. The local shop sells some moderately priced Mil-surp in bandoliers. Still costs a lot more. But I have been figuring, that I think I am much more of a battle rifle type than long range shooter and a PTR can probably do everything a PSL can and then some (look some CQ shooting). The good news is that within hours of posting a listing on this board and another board I have a few people showing some serious interest
I have my cheap shooter now so I won't be slacking on my trigger time. .12 a round for 5.45

Yeah, when I bought my CETME, Wolf FMJ black box could be had for $4.95 and a 140 rd South African Battlepack was purchased at a local shop for $55 OTD.

I am going to have some fun at the range once I get this thing financed lol.
My pleasure
I love the .308 round. Its definately a powerhouse. I wouldnt mind having a '91 or a CETME. I ended up with a FAL, only cus it was a deal I couldnt pass up but Ive been thinking about selling it to get a CETME. The retractable stock is just too cool.

Not all (or most, even) CETME's have a retractable stock. The one I have is a Tapco T-6 stock, like on an M4. There's also the option of putting on the HK G3 collapsable stock that slides the rails up the sides of the receiver. I've had the priviledge to see and handle Enscribe's CETME which he's installed the G3 collapsable stock on; as he stated, he doesn't really like it due to the fact that when it's fully extended, it's wobbly in the vertical direction. We're talking a deflection of 0.5-1 inch in the vertical. Just something to think about if anyone was contemplating purchasing it.
Both his and my CETMEs can be seen in the following link, mine on the far left, his on the far right, second from the top:

I agree about those G3 stocks, the lack of a cheek weld is a big no-no for me (well that and I can no has a collapsable stock lol).

The G3 collapsable stock is what I was referring to. Sorry for my error in terminology.

Do yourself a favor and buy a true H&K 91 and not some Hesse piece of crap. Many of the clones are spotty at best. Not to dissuade you. I have a pair of preban 91s and they are fantastic, as well as a preban Cetme from the late 1950s. They are high end battle rifles that are heavy and built to last.
If you sell your PSL, then you will need to cough up some $$$ to make up the difference, as the PSL prices have really bottomed out. I have my eye on an SR9, but can't seem to part with the money I could buy 15 or more PSLs or AK47s.

PTR-91's are made by JLD Enterprises, who are now PTR Inc. Hesse, or Vulcan arms makes the V-18 which is not even the same thing really. I have heard that some of the earlier PTR's had issues but that they were worked out and not present in current versions.
My dealer has a few available that are NIB for 1,000, which is a bit cheaper than I have found online.
