Xs7/xl7

What is the difference between an XL7 and an XS7 ?
Are there accuracy differences? Cost differences? or are they "apples and oranges"?

I really would like one or the other but wish to make an educated choice.

XL7 is the long action, for longer cartridges like 30-06

XS7 is the short action, for shorter cartridges like 308

same basic action, just physically different in size depending on which cartridge you choose.

If you are really new to shooting, I suggest looking in the big game hunting forum and read all the articles on topics like "which is the best deer rifle" "favorite rifle" and so forth to help you choose a caliber.

I sure like mine in 30-06.. Just remember that you shouldn't need to spend more than $300 for one.. I was at Mill's Fleet Farm in Wausau, WI this week and they had them for $279, new in the box.

I have 2... a 308 and a 270. They are the most accurate rifles I have ever owned, and I have had a lot of rifles. In second place (to me) would be the newer Savages. If I could change one thing on both of them, ( the Marlins) it would be to add a magazine or hinged floorplate,.. but accuracy might suffer. My 270 wears a 30mm leupold, and prefers Federal Factory fusions (130gr) The 308 has a cheapie 3x9x40 on it and likes handloads with ww748 with almost any bullet. Both are "half-inchers" at 100yds.
