Ok I'm looking for a long range hunting round that is chambered in a t/c barrel. I'm thinking either a 300 win mag or a 338 federal. it will be used mainly on deer and hopefully on elk.I already have a 7mm rem mag, sholud i look for a new caliber or just get a better long range scope for what I have?
Stick with your 7 mag, your not gaining much in long rage performance with either, while I love my 300 I just couldn't justify buying one if I had a 7. Of course if your just looking for a new gun, who am I to rain on your parade.

I will agree with 338RUM on the fact that the 338Federal round doesn't have enough for a long range cartridge. After all it's merely a .308 necked up to 338. If you are wanting longer range you're going to need a higher power scope regardless of which caliber bullet you will use. I don't know what you consider long range hunting so if you could be more specific it would help.
