is this right section? not sure how many people here tan there hides or do mounts. but im getting into the hobby soon. rabbit season just started. and trapping season starts dec 1. so im ready. but just curious what uses you all may have for the hides fur on or fur off.. i know you can make blankets, pillots, etc. also by cutting hide with fur off in a circular spiral pattern, making a leather rope/string (hard to explain through text).. would definatley be a good skill to have for survival.. anybody do it? what do you do with your pelts..?
I like the sex pants idea (my GF won't even wear the camo bikini that I bought her, so I guess a fur nighty is out of the question)
I haven't tanned myself (don't have the opportunity here). I friend of mine did. He made all sorts of covers out of a few deer hides. one was a cover for a saw that we take camping. He wasn't allowed to do it at home because of the smell so he found a place far away to do it.
Are you going to try the "natural" tanning using brains n' stuff?
He is having a gun case made out of moose hide, there should be enough left over to make a couple of sheaths, I am going to make some knife handles out of the sheds that we found. Rabbits do make nice gloves and slippers.
