Sling swivel studs...

I just bought my son a Winchester bipod that uses the foreend sling swivel stud to mount to a rifle - it's pretty much a universal design. Problem is, his rifle does not have studs, like I thought it did. It's a Remingtom 597 .22LR auto-loader with the synthetic stock. Can I add studs to this rifle pretty easily? If so, whose should I use? Thanks in advance - Chris

Yes just make sure to use a good epoxy on the sling studs.

It doesn't really matter who you use. I use uncle mike's on mine.

I second Uncle Mikes. The newer ones are made in China, so try to get the American made ones.

They (Uncle Mike's), make studs specifically for composite stocks. If you're not comfortable with drilling the stock, take it to a gunsmith.

Just remember if ya do the buttstock do the angle so the stud will sit flush with the stock. You go straight and the stud will look odd. Don't ask how I know..
