all was well until I tried to put it into one of my double rifle hard cases. ooops.... I cant close the thing up on any of my 4 hard cases. it's now too wide. I'm at a loss as to what to do unless I stip the tacti-cool stuff off before putting it into a hard case. with the accessories attached it measures 5.75" across.
I've seen several setups on here that have to have run into this problem.
anybody got any suggestions? |
It sucks that you've already spent the cash on rails and whatnot, as you probably won't want to purchase another mount...but here's what I did:
Since I have the round free-float and didn't want to spend the cash or lose the comfort by buying a quad-rail, I bought a laser/light combo that mounts directly to the scope tube. The laser and light sit side by side, and fit nicely right around the scope turrets. About 1/8 of the flashlight output is lost on the bell of the scope, but you've still got enough light to see the stuff you want to see. Best of all, with the laser mounted at high noon, the flashlight sits at the 1:30, so it doesn't stick out any further than the turrets.
The only issue I ever had with the case situation was my original rifle case wasn't tall enough...but this was before I ever put the scope riser on. I had to separate my receivers and stagger them so they'd fit in the case. Taller case, problem solved.
