| First Deer
Some of you know I took my nephew to his Ohio Hunter Safety Course two weeks ago. He has wanted to go hunting for the last two years, but he needed to pass the course to get his license. I ended up volunteering to read the test and questions to the younger kids or kids who couldn't read well. To make a long story short, he passed and we then went to get him his license and deer tag. This weekend was youth deer. Armed with his new license and tag, a youth model 1187 he won at a Whitetails Unlimited drawing, and camo he "inherited" from my wife, my nephew and his father joined a groiup or parents and kids to hunt a NE Ohio farm. Teddy passed on a nice buck when he couldn't get a safe shot. He ended the day with a large doe dropped in her tracks at 70 yards. I am not sure who was more excited, Teddy or his father. I must have received a dozen calls from each of them. There is no doubt in my mind that this young man is hooked. I am so glad to see the tradition carried on and the XBOX controls put down. Wait until he sees the CVA muzzleloader I have for him!

My uncle gets the knife on Thanksgiving. I am sure he will be pleased. Looks like the boy will need one sometime soon.

Glad to hear he passed his Hunter Safty course. He was rewarded with a deer and tell him for me that passing up a bad shot shows he learned respect for game. DANA |
