You are correct sir I did not send it off. Maybe if I had i would have had a differant experance. Instead I gave it to my youngest brother for his airsoft guns, it works great for those. That rifle just had too much recoil for that scope so i went back to iron sights.

DaTeacha, I've got a few NCStar scopes. Two reddots and one 3-9X40mm scope.

Never had a problem one. Sadly, I, like many others have to buy what I can afford.

Personally, I think right now they're getting the same treatment as Tasco and Simmons did when they first hit the market. Same for Leapers.

Yes, they started out being made and used for airsoft and pellet guns.

But both companies, like Tasco and Simmons, when they first came onto the market, have both now also moved into handgun and rifle markets...

NCStar will repair anything they sell. If you're going to buy one and not send it in for repair if or when something happens to it, how will NCStar or any other company ever know they have or their might be or is a problem and then be able to fix and or resolve that problem and in the end make a better product. Of course if something happens to it to it due to abuse and or neglect, and sending it in would show this, well, then there's no sense in throwing more money after it.

DaTeahca, take this FWIW. For roughly $50 bucks you can get a decent 3-9X40 NCStar scope w/rings. Personally, I've spent far more on other items whilst growing up and have never had anything more then a puff of smoke then to show for it. lol So spending $50 now, for me, on something like an NCStar scope doesn't bother me. Especially when I'm happy with what I can afford. I do wish I had a Ziess or a Schmidt and Bender or a Swavorski or a Leupold or any other high end high priced scope. But I can't because I can't afford those...

This wasn't a scope, it was a holo sight. I would probably never invest in any kind of holo because my eyes are so bad. Heck, I'm even thinking the 2x Leupold on my Redhawk needs to be replace with a 4x just so I can see better what I'm shooting at.

That Leupold (loop holed, btw, not leo poled) is probably the biggest name scope I've ever owned.

I've always been happy with Bushnell, trusting in their quality control and my past experience with them when I knocked the crosshairs loose on one of their Phantom model pistol scopes. They sent me a new Magnum Phantom free of charge, even paid shipping. I told them I was hot loading a .357 (it was spitting lead out the barrel cylinder gap!) and just asked for a repair and to bill me. Now the kicker -- I bought the original scope used, had no papers with it or anything else. I just mailed it in to them. THAT is service.

Hey Teacha, if you're having eyesight issues, you might want to try a holo or red dot sight? You might find it works better for ya'? For practice and or target shooting anyways? And it's a fact eye relief will be and is far better.

I tell ya' what. It will probably be a while, but when I get a different smaller NC Star red dot for my Taurus .17HMR 6" barrels revolver, I'll contact you and send you the one I'm removing from it and you can try it. Then, if you like it, you can send me whatever we agree to? It'll be reasonable. lol It's the NC Star D4B 4 reticled red dot.

Let me know if you might want to try it/do that?

It's this one here...

I've tried 4X on revolvers, they are good if you shoot from a support, but very hard to hold still enough free hand. I went back to a 2X.

You should give a holo sight a try, I like mine even with these old eyes.

We bought two of these froma gun show a while back. One of their little 3x9x40's and one with a side mount, for my Hi-point and Mini 14 respectively.

They sucked.

The first I tried out was on my Hi-Point 995, I struggled to get it zeroed, it seemed to be going everywhere. Once I did get it zeroed it only lasted 5 or 6 shots before it started wandering again, needless to say, after we go home from the range, it went in the trash and I put my bushnell back on. Same thing for the Mini 14, though nothing we seem to do gets that thing shooting right, must be something about the stainless models.

Also- I'd rather not send something in that crapped out from the recoil of a 9mm...I was fine with sending my leupold scope in, but that's because it is about 35 years old....and was on a 30-06.

they are a good scope for any gun with minimal recoil. i dont think it would be too smart to put one on a 300 win mag i doubt it would last very long.

I bought a 22-250 with the NCstar on it. I wouldnt have another one. my two cents worth. If your going cheap, go with centerpoint or bushnell.

To be honest I really don't think there is one, you might be able to find a used Nikon or Bushnell for $100, a Leopold, not likely. Like most of the guys here I have a NC Star 2-7x32. I don't use it accept to test out
some of the mounts I've designed. I prefer a standard eyerelief scope,
more to choose from and better prices. JMO

I have a NcStar LER 3-9power illuminated scope mounted on my Yugo 24/47 8mm,and it works great.
After running around 100, 198grain Yugo sniper rounds through it,the scope stayed perfectly zeroed.I was able to set an aerosol can up on a stump in my back yard and put a round through it at 100 yards dead center.Love the big cloud of fluorescent paint.
I have several other NcStar scope that are going on my 91/30,and my #1mk-III SMLE.
My Buddie put one on his 91/30,and has fired several hundred rounds through it and has no issues with the scope what so ever.
Maybe we are just lucky,or NcStar is working real hard at making some great scopes.

To anyone that has issues, don't give up to quick, just follow the return procedures, and they will make it right with you.
Jason

P.S. I always use S&K scope mount.

Simmons makes some great handgun scopes that work great on my hard hitting .30 caliber rifles.

Not all china scopes are bad. Sig sauer has tesyed the leatherwood high lux in 7x30 tactical on several of there rifles.they have (adam at sig sauer) told me at the shot show 2010 that they put two of these scopes through a battery of test that they put all skopes through that they test on there rifles and the leatherwood high lux held with the best of them.

So it seems we are pretty polarized on NCstar quality, based on experiences we have had.

I gotta agree with Glockmeister and Jason, I being born poor and continuing the tradition seem to lean toward taking a gamble now and then on some lower quality cheaper than dirt orders and havent been really dissapointed by what I got for the money from NC Star. Leapers scopes have gave me trouble but the NC Star has "knock on wood" performed pretty good. I got a tried and true redfield and bushnells on my "hunting" rifles but have NC star on on a SKS that seems to hold a good group considering the rifle and shooting many rounds?

I would say it depends on the use teacha? Is this your go to rifle or just a fun one at the range? Is it an accurate firearm or a semi accurate target rifle like an SKS? I am building a Mosin up... and I am going bushnell I can tell you that LOL

guess it all comes down to you get what you pay for in the long run... but I am one of those tightwads who sees deals at places like cheaper than dirt and sometimes cant resist! But both my buddy and I have had good luck with NC star... but take that for what its worth after reading some posters!

best of luck
shoot straight whatever ya get!
Mike
