Nc Star quality??

I was looking at a holographic sight at a show, NcStar brand. It's the first one I've seen that has a small enough dot for me to even consider it. From 40 yards away, the dot was the size of the stem of a T in a typical red EXIT sign, so I figured it subtended about an inch at that distance, more or less, giving me a 2 minute dot. It looks interesting, but I have absolutely no impression of NcStar quality, other than that their stuff is usually priced cheap and made in China. Given that almost everything is made there anymore, I'm getting past automatically figuring its all junk.

Does anyone have any impression at all of the quality of NcStar optical goods?

All I have bought from them is a gun case that is for my 18.5" barrel pump shotgun.
It seems to be a quality case.

They are generally regarded as pretty low quality.

everything from china is pretty much junk!
that being said i have two ncstar ler scopes on two mosins that have had hundreds of rounds through them with no problems. (knock wood)
shot a few one inch, three-shot groups the other night while working up a load for the m39. i'm happy with my el-cheapo scopes. they have a lifetime warranty as well, don't they?

that is what I have on the one m44 with the S&K scout mounts, mounts are great and cost more that the scope, it took a dump after about 20-30rds. the vertical line
would not move very much, called them, they said to send it in,lifetime warranty, and
they will take care of it for me, I should have it back this Mon. by doing the tracking, hopefully it will hold up , and the the scope is designed to take the shock from the gun, we will see, he told me the reason being so inexpensive is, built in china and no middle men at all, but I will still be looking for a better quality scout scope like Nikon, which I havw on my Marlin 917VS.17HMR, paid more for the scope than the gun, a quality scope even on a MN is a must, I'am a beleiver now in quality scopes, HTH.

somehow when i see a product made in china i picture a disgruntled worker making $1.50/hour gleefully wiping a booger inside every 50th scope he assembles.

ncstar is pretty crappy i have owned three scopes from them, one broke from recoil, after 2 weeks or trying to get it replaced I finally got one and sold it immediately. The other one I had was junk also, it wouldn't hold zero with the varible power so I sold it as well. You get what you pay for with optics, if you cheap out you get cheap optics.

Don't waste your money Teach. They tend to lose zero quickly and their warranty assistance sucks. Most of the holo sights run about 2-4moa dot.

I have two of these BSA holo's. Midway runs these on sale sometimes for about $50.
I have this BSA model too, it's a good deal, on sale now.

I was thinking the boogers after drying would
maybe tighten up the scope some. Making'em
more durable. To bad just every 50th scope.

I had a fixed 2x20 on my M44 that I got it for free, yea i gave that to my little brother for his airsoft pistol. Those things are not worth paying for and it i ever got another one for free, i would have to be worried that i offended that person unless it was going on a airsoft gun.

I have a NC Star pistolero, it is the $70 LER scope. I have nicknamed the NC as Not Consistent.

As others have said, they are pretty crappy. If you are just adding a cheap optic to Mosin Nagant or other similar it will be fine. But the change in MOA adjustments are not linear, 4 clicks does not always equal 1" or whatever.
If you want a nice scope the Nikons can be had at about $200.

p.s. for anyone stating they have a problem with the nc star scopes, why don't you just complain to nc star and send them back to get fixed? i sure as heck will if the ones on my mosins ever give me problems.

I've got one, a 8-32x50 mil-dot, I use now & again on an AR15; it's OK as long as you don't adjust the power during a shooting session.

It's not the sort of thing I could send back to the states under warrantee if it really goes wrong, just into the bin with it. However, I reckon I got my money's worth as it's only for fun. My serious shooting is done using the irons anyway.

There is a tiny little gun shop not far from me that carries most of the NcStar line. They make a nifty little illuminated scope for the AR15 that I really wanted to like but I guess I'll find something else after reading some of these replies.

It held its zero even after our room mate dropped it. The nc star i had woundn't even hold its zero after more than a few shots. I took the scope off and just went back to iron sights on it.
