Remington 700 vrs 770

What is the differences between the Remington 770 and the 700 regarding 30-06? Is there a major difference between the 2? I heard that the 770 is the cheaper of the 2 and not quite the same quality. Do they both have the same action and smoothness? What about accuracy are they both accurate the same? On the 700 model what do the SDS or ADL stand for? I am looking for one that is composite and want to get the better of the 2 but don’t have a lot of $$$ so I need to get the most bang for my buck, any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

Of those two I don't think you would notice much difference in accuracy. Quality you will see a lot of difference. The 700 action is well worth the extra money. Much smoother. If I were looking for an economy rifle I would also be looking at the Stevens/savage 200 and the Marlin bolt rifle. Both rifles are a great bang for your buck!

I am compairing these two guns against the Savage 110 and 111 in the 30-06. So again I am looking for the most and best bang for my buck since funds are very tight right now.

the 700, and 770 are 2 entirely different rifles. best bang for the buck, buy a stevens ( same as the savage minus the craputrigger).

Personally,

I feel the tried and true 700 is a step above in terms of quality.

However, I would really suggest you take a look at the Marlin XL line of bolt action rifles that are getting a lot of great performance reviews. This is a really interesting combo of quality performance and price point.

There is no VS here. The 700 is a tried and true model, been around for years. Its known to have a great crisp trigger, accurate also. The 770 i have heard bad things bout them.People saying they dont want to eject right and just that they are cheap. The SPS stands for special purpose synthetic, meaning has a black matte finish which is like a kinda rough ebrasive coating like rhino lining for a gun, then ADL is another feature type rifle i dont know what this means, and i think they dont have this anymore but they have BDL and CDL.CDL stands for classic delux.I dont know what the BDL stand for. They have one more XHR, extreme hunting rifle, these are nice but gonna be expensive. At walmart where i live they will special order guns for you and also they have 700 and 770. the price difference is only 100dollars more for the 700 which with tax and all is almost 500dollars so i would go with that one.

ADL was their first "Deluxe" model, therefore A. Box magazine, no clip or bottom plate to unload.

BDL just the B version, more features like cap on tip of stock, better checkering. Same basic action though.

CDL latest model, same action. Nicer finish.

I had an ADL. First thing I did was remove the 'plastic' finish and give it a hand rubbed oil finish. Then I made sure the barrel was free floated. I got about 1" to 1 1/4" groups at 100 yds with 30-06 match ammo.
