251 Members of Congress and 58 Senators signed the NRA amicus brief for the McDonald v. Chicago case; the most signatures by elected officials on an amicus brief in history. If this case is successful, not just Chicago will be affected but also New York and any city having an outright ban of firearms as this case combines both the 2nd and the 14th Amendments to establish that no city has the right to legislation that is in direct conflict with the Bill of Rights.
The precident is there as similar interpretations by the courts were used to nullify state and county voting restrictions on racial minorities and to eliminate racially segregated schools.
