This is the first time I tried scoring a deer for myself using the boone and crocket scoring list. not sure if i did it right or not. the deer scored 147 4/8 does this sound in the correct ball park by judging from pictures thanks

Congrats, that's a dandy whitetail. So you shot it with a .300 Win Mag...I've been thinking about using mine for deer, but I'm not sure.

I,ve been hunting whitetail using my 300mag for a few years now. people say its overkill, I think as long as you place your shot corectly theres no waste. I love hunting with my 300

thanks guys.... Was just going to head home for the day when I spotted him on the edge of a bluff, He must of been following a doe's scent, had his head down the whole time sniffing and trotting along. he Looked up at me and didnt even care I was there about 140yards out, just put his snout back down too the ground and kept following that scent. Didnt know what hit him..

it's hard to tell from the pic, but 147 4/8 does look about right. The attached pic is a wolf kill that measured 132 1/2...

Great buck. I am going muzzle loader hunting this weekend, and would be thrilled to shoot a deer like that. Heck, at this point, I will take a doe!
