They used to have some issues. The only issue I still hear about is the occasional "under chamber" where they didn't cut the chamber deep enough. Better that though than having it too big and sloppy.
I'm happy with everything I own that's made by Olympic.
Some are pronounced haters. I have one that has never FTE, or FTF. Can't say that for the majority of AR owners at the range. Some spend more time trying to figure out whats wrong with their Mil spec rifle than they spend shooting it.

I have been to the Olympic Arms place of business. I have heard of some problems. One such was on an AR that didn't have a polished feed ramp. Allegedly the problem was fixed no charge. I have not bought or shot any of their products, as the black rifles aren't my fancy. Now, if they made Mosins there, then I'd be able to give them business. One of these days, I really want to tour the place. I have had their pistol smith do some trigger work on one of my 1911s, and its just great. Too bad you weren't closer to check things out.
For anyone that is local western WA, take I-5 to exit 116, Mounts Rd. Coming from the north, turn left, coming from the south, turn right and follow the road around the sharp corner just off the off ramp over the first bridge over the RR tracks down the hill, then the second bridge over the Nisqually River at the bottom of the hill (watch for fisherman traffic when season is open for salmon). Olympic Arms is on the left, maybe a half mile past the Nisqually. Large blue building with large windows facing the street. There is a flag pole and white doors that indicate main public entrance. The buildings to the right is where they manufacture the goods.

Olympic and Colt are the only two AR manufacturers that make all of their own parts in-house. Everyone else buys from the same set of suppliers, if Olympic wasn't a good gun it wouldn't be in buisness.
Wasn't it last year when someone had their seer malfunction in their Olympic and land in jail b/c of it?
is it the price that's drawing you to the K16?
Yes it was an Olympic rifle that went full auto on a public range. The rifle had a worn part and the owner had neglected to have it fixed, if I remember correctly.

Some of the very first Oly budget models had feed issues and because of the internet, the story well never die. If I buy another AR it well be a Oly. They offer several models in different price ranges.

What is the general opinion of Olympic arms rifles? Don't know squat about ARs but I want one for coyote hunting. Looking at the Olympic arms K16.
Did you ever consider building one? Just a little further down in this forum they have a web page offering $55.00 stripped lower receivers and Del-Ton.com has resonably priced complete uppers. I just put one together for $620.00 (stripped lower, 20" complete flat top upper from Del-Ton and a BSA scope) It now has 400 rds through it. Not a single problem.

It is because of them that steel core 7.62x39 was banned from importation. They just had to go make a pistol version of the AR15 in 7.62x39 to make the AK users get screwed. I have a bushmaster lower, a colt SP1, and a Sig 556. I should add that I heard the ammo importers offered to give money to olympic if they would not bring their pistol to market, but they refused and the ban went into effect.

Olympic Arms built 7 test weapons and never sold any of them nor did they have the machinery in place to manufacture the weapons. I don't know if the OA-93 was ever available to the public in 7.62 X 39 and it certainly wasn't marketed by Olympic Arms BEFORE the ban went into place.

Just my opinion, take that for what it's worth. Some on here say I don't know jack
I don't know Jack either. Wonder if he's a stand up guy. What are the issues with Del-Ton? I bought mine on recomendation from the opinions on this forum. Of course I know what they say about opinions but since I don't know Jack, I went with what I heard from other members.
