Holster or Bag Options and Recommendations

I'm at the point where I would like a holster or bag recommendation. This is for my SA XDm9 (9mm)

1. My budget is at the most $50
2. OWB prefered. No need for IWB.
3. Shoulder holster options welcomed.
4. Would like it to hold an extra loaded mag.

USE

*The main use really would just be to house the gun. I don't much want to keept the gun in the big XDm case that is came in. It's nice to take to the range, but the range I go to (State Game Lands) which is FREE!!!! it's a little bulky for the narrow table they have there.

**My second use would be easy access when I have it under my bed if I ever need it and also to Conceal Carry it in my car if I ever wanted to. Which my prefered option would be between the drivers seat and center console.

***My third use would be to Conceal Carry it on my person. Again this is the third use, so not my main use and not terribly important. Right now I don't think I have a real reason to Conceal Carry it on my person. I cannot take it on the premises at work so Mon-Fri it's not even worth it. Plus right after work I go right home and don't usually go anywhere for the rest of the day till I have to go to work again the next day.

But if you want to give ideas. I am 5'10" and about 230lbs. Loosing weight too, so keep that in mind when making suggestions...

----------

The one that came with my XDm9 is ok, but I'm not a huge fan of it. The gun seems to catch on it. I have loosened and tightened and loosened again with the allen screw but cannot get it to where it feel comfortable to place and take out and replace again.

My father conceal carries in his vehicles and he uses a small green zippered bag for his STAR 380 pistol. And he uses a leather holster that closes with a strap to a little nubbin for his Makarov 9mm pistol.

I do like the idea of a zippered bag too. It's just easy to use. Maybe not in a hurry type situation, but for general usage I think it is. Plus they are cheap. So maybe no bag recommendations. Unless you know of some really good bags that aren't too expensive.

Something like this for a bag...

Or this for a holster type...
However for this one it gives you options for which gun to buy it for and of course SA isn't on there. Cabela's -- Soft Armor Compak™ Spring Clip Ambidextrous Holster
From those choices would you pick like the Glock17 choice for the best fitment for my SA XDm9?

Or this for Shoulder holster type...

Either of the first two would be fine for storage at home or in the car. You could leave the zipper on the case open for quick access. The holster in the second picture could work for concealed carry, but need to be sure that it is stiff enough that it stays open when you draw the pistol, so you can reholster the weapon one handed. It is a safety issue if you have to use your other hand to hold the holster open when replacing the pistol. I don't have any experience with shoulder holsters, just never appealed to me. You may be able to find one similar to the one that came with the pistol, but is better made. If you have an Academy or Gander Mountain near you, might try them. Also, some gun stores have new & used holsters for sale. I personally prefer leather to the hard holsters, but you do not want to store the pistol in a leather one.

P.S. Suggest that the second holster could be selected based on barrel length rather than brand/model. Or, if it states for a similar size/style pistol it should fit yours.

For $23 + shipping you could get an Eagle Industries pistol case. You could leave the zipper top open like mitchr suggested to. Pictures would suggest it'd probably work good that way.

My second option listed, I now see they do have one for the XDm. I must have just glanced quick and overlooked it.

That would be nice for the range...

For concealed carry I found a JIT Slide holster made by Don Hume (around 25.00) works great. Model number is XD-40. It is leather and molded for the XDM.

Well I just picked up a Cabelas pistol rug 11 inch for my XDm9 (9mm). Man couldn't pass up a good product and brand for $9.99.

I dont know that this fits all of your requirements, but I just bought a Serpa holster and I like it a lot. My XD9-SC came with the holster from SA, but it gripped the gun rather tight and would yank my pants and belt up when de-holstering. The Serpa has lock on it to keep it from coming loose or being removed unintentionally. When the lock release is pushed, it just glides out of the holster.

I'm looking for a second holster that works as well as the serpa. My needs for the second echo 9mmxdm's requirements. I would like to find a paddle holster that that has an integral single mag holder, or a holster that has the picatinny rails similar to the SA holster. Already own and don't like the SA holster. A serpa with the rails would be great. I'm also looking for the mating mag holder if I go the picatinny route.

Thanx
