Yay, bucket o' brass!

One one my buddies just dropped off a small bucket of brass he collected from the range. I'm in the process of sorting it right now, but I noticed some of the cases have green corrosion on their walls. Should I just scrap those cases or tumble them and see how they clean up?

The green disease is a moisture related chemical breakdown of the brass. I would just tumble them and see what happens. It's not contagious or anything.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll chance it. So far it has been mostly .38, .357, 9mm, and 45 acp. Which is quite a coincidence, since that is what I load! There were a few pieces of .40 in there, but I'll just add them to my collection until I have enough to trade.

Green stuff

Sometimes that green stuff fades to a dark brown after tumbling and sometimes it stays green. I cull the ones that a really green (>%50) but shoot the others, haven't noticed any tendency to fail.
I do not approach max loads or even the upper 1/2 of the charge range.

Okay the final tally is:

105- 9mm
26- .40 S&W
16- .357 Mag
40- .38 spl
166- .45 acp
1- 10mm
11- .38 super

Not too shabby.
