SAIGA .223 Interested

So I am kind of interested in this SAIGA .223 on this site.

Saiga .223 Rifle

- One is it used?
- Two is it new?
- Three does it need converted to be compliant?
*If so what needs to be converted and how much will it cost?
- If it doesn't need converted how much does it usually cost to ship to a FFL and to finish the transaction? I'm in PA by the way.

9mmXDm, I'll take a swing at answering your questions.

It's a new rifle. It is US-compliant right out of the box. That particular Saiga was designed to comply with the restrictions imposed by the 1994 AWB. The barrel is at the minimum length to comply with the 1938 National Firearms Act, but it's completely legal.

Figure shipping is going to run you $25 to $30 via UPS, and there will be a transfer fee to pay to your FFL when you go to pick it up. That can run you anywhere from $15 to $100; these fees are set by the FFL. Stores set them depending on how much aggravation they figure it's worth to them to accept a special-order gun that wasn't ordered through them, on which they make no markup. You may also have to pay PA state sales tax on the transaction; I know from experience that you have to on a gun ordered from out of state that has to pass through a FFL in New York.

At a guess, figure you'll have to pay an additional $50 plus Pennsylvania sales tax and you ought to be in the ballpark for your total cost.

It's compliant as is, like stated above. Only way it could be imported

Does NOT need to be converted to be compliant, but NEEDS to be compliant IF you convert it.

Converting means putting it back to "manufacturer intended design" IE: like an AK. you need to move the trigger forward, and put a pistol grip and but stock on it.

Cost depends on how far you go with the conversion.. Do a search, you'll see it's been covered many times here already.

Good luck, they're totally worth the effort
