Parker-Hale 5C

I found a Parker-Hale 5C and I would like to find a owners manual. Anyone have a link? Information on the Parker Hale variable Iris would be nice also.

I have lusted after the 5C for some time but couldn't bring myself to part with the money they command. This one was dirt cheap, missing the aperture, one mounting screw and two others are a little bubba'd. I can make the new screws and I have some Williams apertures that are a direct fit. The body of the sight is 95% plus. I believe this 5C has a finer adjustment than others I have looked at. It has sixteen detents on each adjustment knob. 1/8th moa??
Now I need to decide what rifle to put it on.

I've never seen a PH 5C with those adjusting knobs. The standard 5C was 1/2 minute.
So you're looking for a N04 to fit onto the sight??

Found some info:

The early 5Cs (with the 'tapered' adjuster) were 1/2 MOA and the later ones with the ('squared off' adjusters, like yours) and 1/4 MOA

Early PH5C

Late PH5C

Yes, I do have three suitable donors, but maybe I should consider another rifle, great idea.

There are questions as to whether PH made the 'variable iris' eypieces or if they just marketed them. I have had two of them (with the variable iris and the variable coloured filters) but neither were marked PH.
I have one now on a PH5A
(Sorry - cheap camera and just couldnt get the focus)

Alan

The head space on your camera is set too large, close it up a bit.

10-4 on the 'variable iris' eyepieces, I've been doing a little research, found some for sale. I really don't know if I would use one,but it is a 'cool' accessory.

How about a shot of your Royal Enfield showing the exhaust system. It looks like we call a TT set up. Dirt racing with 650cc English bikes is big here. There is a track about 50 miles from here that draws nation wide riders. Couple of friends have been racing them from many years. One guy is in his eighties, still builds race bikes and was some kid ride them. They win as often as not.

Thumbs up

Wun, many thanks for that P-H sight website! I have finally been able to identify the P-H sight I put on my BSA Mk.II International .22LR rifle - it came without sights. I found this aperture sight on fleabay, but didn't know what model it was. Turns out to be the Model 5B. Mine differs from that shown in the website by the aperture - mine wears a six-hole aperture. It works great for the BSA Martini rifle, though it has far to much adjustment. This sight is for the Enfield Pattern 14 rifle (similar to our Enfield M1917 rifle).
I made the mount from aluminum plate.

My BSA Mk.II International with the P-H 5B sight.

Is it just the angle of the picture (or my eyes) - It looks as if it has a slight cant to the right (ie the windage arm 'dipping' sligtly downwards), if this is the case then as you increase for elevation then the eye-piece will be moved slightly as well, meaning you might need to adjust for 'windage' as well

Talking

Yes, it's level - the camera was crooked......

I have done many one-inch groups at 100 yards with this set-up, so it's a danged good one!
