This is gonna be a Christmas Downer and I apologize but I have to get this out.
As some of you may have heard of the missing 11 year old girl from Salisbury, MD that has been on the news of late.
Sex Offender Charged in Disappearance of Maryland Girl - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com
A girl Sarah H. Foxwell was taken from her home this Weds and is still missing. The prime suspect who has been arrested and charged with her kidnapping was a high risk level child sex offender who was an acquaintance of the family.
There has been no contact or sightings whatsoever since her disappearance.
I do not work for the jurisdiction handling this investigation but I work for a neighboring one.
There has been a huge and very extensive search by state, using which has included dogs, helicopters, dive teams, and lots of other high tech gadgetry county, from the combined state, county, and local law enforcement from all over the area as from the US Army National Guard and now the FBI. Unfortunately do to certain details which I cant really get into, its now public knowledge that the worst is feared about the little girl. Due to the specifics of the case the local area that we are looking in is very large and contains dense forest, marsh lands, and industrial areas. The terrain is wet, muddy, snowy, icey and cold. If your a hunter you know exactly what Im talking about.
I wasn't able to get out yesterday but I worked last night on Christmas Eve and when I got done, several members from our department went over on our own time to join the search teams. Besides all the on and off duty LEOs there was an outpouring of easily a couple hundred or more local citizens, hunters, trackers, and others wanting to help. We were all assigned into mixed teams of citizens and LEOs and were put into action as part of a very large grid search of the area.
My group searched through an area for about three hours before we completed our search area but to no avail.
I wanted to stick around to get assigned to another search area but I have to work tonight again. Ill probably head back over tomorrow when I get done with that shift as well if she hasn't been found. I was able to see one of the family members who was very thankful for all of the outpouring of people from all over the area who came to help. It really was quite a mix of all sorts and it was a sight to see.
Please everyone keep little Sarah Foxwelll in your thoguhts and prayers this Christmas. Hopefully for her safe return but if not I hope that we can recover her and help bring some sort of closure to her family.
