.22 conversion for PT92 Taurus

Has anyone used the Ceiner (sp?) 22 conversion on a PT 92? If so, does it require any modification at all? I have a PT92AFS (the polished alloy and S/S one) and I don't know if the conversions come in the silver color...that doesn't matter much if the function of a blued one is fine without modifying the pistol...or the kit...I tried several times to get an answer from the kit manufacturer with no results..that seemed sort of strange in itself...any help appreciated..thanks

I think the Beretta ceiner conversion will work, but I will try to install this evening on mine and let you know. I have never installed either this .22 barrel conversion, nor the beretta factory conversion on mine, keeping it in my more heavily used Beretta 96. ANyway, will let you knw shortly.

It will not fit, unless I am guessing I remove some of the slide material. The Taurus has the safety on the frame, which I am guessing is interfering with the slide. The beretta conversion kits work great for the berettas, but the mags would need to be modified slightly to fit the taurus as well. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news amigo.

I have looked at a few different .22 conversion kits and have found the kits are usually more money than I can buy a good .22 pistol for.

Thanks for the effort, Pico..I wondered about the placement of the safety and decocker on the slide...and I guess like was said...buying a good 22 pistol is probably the way to go..I like "gadgets" and figured that a conversion kit would be something a bit different. I noticed on the Ceiner web site that while they show the Taurus and make note about it, all the details and information relate to the Beretta and nothing directly speaks to the AFS Taurus or to the decocker model. Pico..I used to live in Nebraska and see you are from Iowa....I'm guessing you had a really white Christmas...I don't miss the weather at all!!

Many thanks again and I'll just look for a nice little 22 to plink with...there's a ton of Ruger Mark II and III pistols around and I've had one before..

I too have the Taurus PT92AFS. Yes, it is polished alloy & stainless steel. And I do have the Ceiner 22LR conversion. The Ceiner/Taurus kit DOES have the "cutout" for the safety. (The Beretta conversion does NOT) The conversion is so simple, anybody can do it! Push in, the takedown button on the right side, then rotate the takedown lever on the left side, then remove the entire slide. Take the Ceiner slide assembly &.... slide it on the gun. That's it, it's ready to shoot. (You did remember to switch the magazines didn't you?) The only "negative" I have about the Ceiner conversion is the magazine has no "slide button" to retract the slide,to insert the bullets. You have to "force" the bullets into the slide, but the Ceiner magazines will take 15 rounds, 22LR. When loading the magazine, the first bullet gets "pushed down" & slid back into the slide. The second round is held "crosswise" until the bullet you are pushing against, is "lowered" into the magazine. While pressing on the second bullet (crosswise) rotate the bullet into place & slide it back into the magazine. It takes longer to explain it, then to "just do it!' If it's a problem for you, you can get a "slide loader" for $12.95 at most any large gun dealer (or online)
I have a Browning Buckmark (22LR) that I shoot all the time. The Taurus, with the 22LR conversion is a completely different gun, with the conversion mounted. I'm glad I got the conversion kit! It's fun to shoot & a lot cheaper than 9mm. (And, I do load my own 9mm)
