ruger no1

hi there
i picked up a ruger #1 in very good shape sum one has done a lot of work to it. it has a heavy type B.S.A barrel on it and it has been full floated looks like the last own has had a custom forend made for it as well .it shoots very well it puts 5 shots all in the same hole at 100yrds its in 300win mag ,new to this site do you think it may have been set up for target shooting or just for hunting will put sum pics up soon

Congrats on the No 1!!! That is one of my favorite rifles!

No.1 rifles had a reputation of being spotty with accuracy. Some would shoot and others would not. It sounds to me like the previous owner got one that was not shooting well and changed things until he got it to shoot accurately. Looks like you are reaping the benefits of his/her labors!!! Shoot it. Hunt with it and enjoy!!!

Hello and welcome. Not too many people shoot a .300 Win Mag for target punching. I would say someone was doing some long range hunting with it, although what may have been the intended target I can't guess. With a heavy barrel, you probably wouldn't be hiking too far with it. Mine is in 22-250, a 200th year model, and one of my most favored guns.

hi there i see on the barrel it has 7.62mm 2.015'' 20tons per # inch
it also looks to have had a custom full rib just waiting for my p.c to come back from the shop so i can put up a cupla pics

See if you can get a better pic. That one seems to show a custom trigger, too.
