Just wanted to show off these grips I got in today. I really love how much larger the medallions are and how much smaller the screw is than factory size. The bottom bevel is 12 degree. What do ya think? I really like them over the factory Hogue's.
When I opened this thread, I thought I'd just peak and move-on, but I just have to say I found myself staring at one of the best, if not "the" best looking Redhawks I'd ever seen. Thanks for the images Tankhead.

Thanks. This is my first handgun as I bought it for back-up bowhunting elk. I don't have many weapons bow/rifle/handgun but I still like to make them something special. I had a close call this year unknowingly camping 1/4 mile from a missing/never found elk hunter. So I bought this. I was looking for some wood grips but decided on this w/ a carved holster/belt in dyed oxblood from LeverGunLeather. He's so busy I have to wait 2 more months for it though. But I'll have some nice stuff when I hopefully draw out next year.

If you had to have just one handgun, then you sure didn't go wrong. That .44 Redhawk with .44 magnum loads is a perfect trail and backup gun. If you ever get the desire to target shoot or hunt small game, .44 specials will work great too. If you ever use your Ruger as a carry gun under a coat for concealed carry or in that holster you described for open carry, you can get some good .44 special LSWC defense loads too.

I know, it shold turn out to be a good overall gun. It's too big for concealed but I'm working on that after I get this set-up finished. I was initially gonna go with the Super RedHawk .454/.45, and convinced otherwise, but this turned out much better for me.
^^ The 4" v. 5 1/2" barrel might make the Redhawk a concealable weapon under a long casual coat or parka. Granted, it would never qualify as a "fun 'n the sun" concealed carry weapon while visiting Key West, but for the winter and cooler months, it will conceal quite well; again with .44 special LSWCs. I believe Elmer Keith carried a similar length Smith & Wesson Model 29 in a belt holster under a tweed coat during an NRA convention in Washington DC back before our nation's capital plunged into its 30 year long draconian socialist gun control era.
