Anti-Gun Senator Shoots Intruder !

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician's home county said.

The victim, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties..

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

"I am not in a position to talk to you," Soles said by telephone. "I'm right in the middle of an investigation."

The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do As I Say And Not As I Do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

I think this is typical of the mindset of these politicians. It's o.k. for me to have a gun because I'm important but you can't have one. Sad thing is, the major media probably won't ever report this.

I thought this was an old posting; look at the date of the article. I wonder if the Brady club are gonna ask for his good citizen card back.

Never heard of him or his record. Being a State senator, I wonder what North Carolinians are thinking right now. Anyone from North Carolina out there?

It looks like a time for replacing another hypocritical politician, with some one who is honest, and will do the will of the people. Send him home, with no retirement!

Probably bought the gun to protect himself from the pro-gunners. Ironic that he needed the gun for what we have been talking about all along.

Reminds me of when Jane Fonda had her house burglarized. When the cops came to investigate they found a bunch of guns in the closet. When asked about it she said the no gun thing was for other people not her. Also don't forget the editor of the Washington post that shot the kid in his swimming pool with an illegal gun. He was not charged either.

Never heard of this Senator. Looks like he is from the Southeastern part of the state though. Makes sense because the perp. was taken to a South Carolina hospital. Another politician with double standards. Not many these days that don't put themselves on pedistals above their constituants. Hurry up November!!!

Exclamation Pompous Ass

The whole picture?? "Soles" is a pompous self rightchess type of a fellow. He is above the law; He is the law; since 1968; he has empowered himself many times.

Tabor City is a small town in the eastern part of our state

R.C. Soles, North Carolina Pol Who Shot Intruder, Won't Run Again

WWAY sheds additional light on this:
Thursday, aColumbus Countygrand jury found probable cause to seek an indictment against Soles for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
In late August, Soles shot 22-year-old Kyle Blackburn outside the Senator’s home in Tabor City.
Blackburn was a client of Soles’ law firm. Soles told police he shot Blackburn in self-defense, saying that Blackburn was trying to break into his home. Blackburn told us he was leaving the property when he was shot.
While what happens within a grand jury proceeding is secret, we can presume that ballistics evidence was part of what was reviewed yesterday, specifically whether the bullet wound indicated that Blackburn was facing the Senator or running away when he was shot.
We also know surveillance cameras were running at Senator Soles’ house at the time of the shooting.
The shooting itself wasn’t captured on camera, but what transpired before and after the shooting may have helped the jurors determine how the events played out

This is just another in a never ending series of similar situations. The do-gooder types who think the common masses should live one way, for the common good of course, while they themselves in their superiority, get to live another.

These same people want mass transit for everyone, too, excep them. They get to use the roads in their cars with no traffic that way, because they are too important to have to deal with the crowds.

They want nuclear power but keep the reactors and waste disposal far away from them. They want wind power, but put those nastly looking towers somewhere where they don't see them. They want to eat steak, but no one is allowed to wear leather. ARRRGGHHHH!

I HATE HYPOCRITES!!!!

He has the same case of "double standard disease"suffered by politicians in Chicago and New Orleans. It is not totally uncommon, but curable, usually around November 4th.

This highlights what I have contended ever since the legislators in commiefornia started all the anti-gun hysteria in the 70s.

Politicians DO NOT believe for one minute that guns cause crime. They DO NOT believe that criminals buy guns from law abiding citizens. They DO NOT believe that fewer guns means less crime. They DO NOT believe that self-defense with a gun is a crime.

What the Anti-gun mouthpiece politicians DO BELIEVE is that they (the politicians) are so criminal, and so deserving of jail time, that law abiding AMERICAN CITIZENS should not be allowed to have guns with which to enforce the lawful and righteous behavior of politicians. They BELIEVE that if American Citizens ever wake up and smell the coffee, that they (the politicians) will be taken, at gun point of angry mobs, to jail, or worse.
