As usual... I don't know whether to put this under the rifle or handgun category.

I've had the hankerin' to pick up a .256 Win Mag in possibly the... and I can't believe that I am even considering this... the Marlin Model 62 Lever action. Never been much of a Marlin fan but I can't see shellin' out the bucks for a Ruger Hawkeye in the .256 Mag pistol (OH... I WISH!), or get too excited about a Thompson Contender in this round. Although, the T/C would be the cheapest solution to this caliber problem.

I'm thinkin' that I would really like to pick up something in this caliber and was wondering what experience you guys have with it. Wish there were another alternative on the pistol menu.

I guess I just like the weird stuff!!

Nothing wrong with a marlin levermatic in a necked down 357 mag! I have a 256 win mag in my cartridge collection and its an interesting little thing!

There's nothing wrong with Marlin.
If you can find the ammo or the dies to form and load it...go for it.
You will enjoy it for sure.
