Angry 2nd Amendment Protest

You guys wish us Austinites well this evening, as we are protesting APD and BATF strong arm tactics that shut our gun show last weekend. It will be at 715 E 8th st. at 4:30 PM. Park under the I-35 bridge. They have stepped in Cow pattie, and we are responding.
We WILL be wearing Empty holsters, and one for all and all for one. We will have speakers there and tons of cameras everywhere so they can't start trouble with us.
Long live the 2nd!

My thoughts'll be with you guys. Get some pictures and let us know how it goes. I doubt we'll hear anything on the news.

And if we do, I'm sure it won't be favorable...

I'm not really familiar with the story behind them shutting down the gun show, but I can only guess that it had something to do with that nut job who fired shots in the air while standing on the front steps of the state capitol.

Lots of links if you Google News 'austin gun show'.

I'm surprised a Texas law enforcement agency would allow that to happen.

About 300 people showed up, standing on the stoop of APD with empty holsters with the Constitution stuffed in them. What a sight, Alex Jones almost broke their windows with a bullhorn, he let them have it good. He reminded them of Texas and Federal laws very loudly. The press and the police cars stayed across the streets, but we were able to talk to the Austin American Statesman reporter who stood among us taking notes. I told her that if we lose the 2nd, she would lose the 1st. What started this was the BATF and APD pressured the building owner/lesser to make the organizers of gun show to distribute flyers requiring that all firearm sales go through an FFL only. In Texas it is legal to sell FTF. Their underhanded threats violated Texas and Federal laws. They made a staged arrest and walked a vendor out the door but released him. They are trying to make the impression that guns are illegal and fool the most liberal city in Texas here into voting away our gun rights. I'm so proud we took immediate action on this and had a peaceful event.
The shots fired at the capitol came days later. Some guy walked into an office, walked back outside shot up into the air, they wrestled him down, put him in the front of a DPS car and drove him away. I made a stand for our rights and it feels great! Tonight I go to bed knowing that we are still free.

Good for you and good for all 300 or so who showed up.

Is there another or any other gun shows up coming? I'd be curious to know if they're going to do it or try it again?

That link you posted says the video is unavailable.

As for your protest thats awesome. Remember it only took 300 Greeks to show the Persian Empire that it wasn't worth it.

Thumbs up

I wonder if the BATFE's underhanded tactics at that gunshow was a testcase for other states...? Hopefully, the other state's gunowners will respond in kind, and show these jackboots that WE respect The Law, both State and Federal.

That is a possibility. Likewise, I wonder too whether the Austin Police Department was strong armed by the BATFE to participate in this. Perhaps the local police were on the side of the people in this situation and knew this would cause an angry response. A lot of that went on during the Clinton Administration when Reno thugs tried to use local muscle to impose their federal agenda.

A lot of us are with you too Cyrano. The one thing I learned about writing New York legislators is they don't write back. I'll keep it up none-the-less. Right now, I'm working on the Colorado State University board. The governor of Texas will hear from me next.

Good for you folks. Perry said find another place, but if the Austin city police go along with the BATF like they did the last time, it won't matter where you have it, if it's in the city limits of Austin. If I'm not mistaken, the Mayor is the"commander-in-chief" of the police commissioner & the police department. The mayor should be your next target, both in getting it prevented on the next gun show, but also a target for being replaced because he let it happen the first time.

Replacement politicians are the order of the day, especially after the Massachusetts Miracle. If it can happen there, it can surely happen in Texas.
