Feeling very stupid

Hello everyone I'm new to the forums

My Dad gave me a rifle and I took one unimpressed look at it and thought ok a little 22 for his daughter, cute.

So I move to Arkansas and start buying as much ammo for my guns as possible, since my former native State of California was so anti-gun it was getting ridiculous.

I'm up to my ears in 22 LR and decide to pull out Dads gift and clean it up, well to my surprise its not a 22.
Its a Sears .410 101-1120 ... blink...blink

Ive got an Kel-tec P-11 9mm for CCW, Mossberg 500 Cruiser shotgun
and an Smith and Wesson Model 10 38 cal.

I dont have any 410 shells and I now realize I don't own a 22.

Now Im looking at this Relic .410 sideways wondering if its even safe to fire, and have a excuse to buy a Henry lever action 22 model.

Does anyone know the brand name of this Sears weapon? Am I safe to assume its a Savage?

Although the model number you give isn't listed, most likely your shotgun was made by Savage. The list I researched is not all inclusive but the numbers you have fall within the range of Savage numbers listed.
Sears guns were manufactured by Savage, Marlin, Sevens, and Winchester to name a few.
I'd have it checked out by a gunsmith prior to shooting it. Better to be safe than sorry.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to G&G stockpile. You might want to save all of that .22 ammo and pick up a Ruger 10-22 rimfire rife or the new Marlin .22. They are great for target practice and plinking. If that .410 is a family heirloom by any chance, you might want to hold onto it. I don't know your present family demographics, but if you have a son, or daughter now or in the future, who would like to get into shooting one day, a .410 and a .22 might be the way to go. Our 11 year old son is in the Boy Scouts and he can handle almost anything out there. He started shooting as a Cub Scout at the age of 7. The guns they used were .22s and .410s.

It's a Savage model 51, single shot, bolt action, 410.

Thumbs up

A good little .410 - I have the Stevens version. I too thought it was a .22 rifle when I pulled it off the pawnshop shelf! The barrel seemed a tad thick, then I womdered why the bead front sight on a .22 rifle..? Then I finally noticed the BIG ejection port!
I bought it and refinished it to match my little Stevens Model 15 single-shot .22LR rifle - makes a nice 'matched pair'!
