Weaver 2.5x

My dad had a 7mm mauser topped with a weaver 2.5x scope. He gave it to my brother who said that the reticle was broken, and threw the scope away. Anyhow, I'm getting the rifle now, and I want to put a Weaver 2.5x fixed back on it. Any one know what would be a fair price for one, what models there are, I don't remember much about the scope that was on it, but I know my Grandpa bought it used in the late sixties, or early seventies. And from what I remember of it, it had "bells" on both ends, but I could be wrong there.
Thanks.

Just for chits n giggles I checked gun broker. No older models came up (I might not have searched correctly) but two (2) new ones did, 2.5-8X28 and they had a starting bid of $203.83.

Just keep looking and I'm sure you'll find one for a reasonable price that you'll like and be happy with. Just might take some time is all...

Actually there were 2 different models of Weaver 2.5X scopes: one was the K 2.5 and the other was a J 2.5 . The K was more common and had a 1 inch tube, the J had a 3/4" tube. Most had cross hairs, some had a post and cross hair or a rangefinder reticle for $5.00 extra. They go around here at gun shows for $40 -60.

I have the 2.5X J scope - I like it on some old 'vintage' rifles. Definitely 'old school' in optical quality though. If you are serious about hunting, use a newer scope for clearer optics.

I have bought several old steel-tube Weaver scopes on fleabay - sometimes you can luck into a really good deal.

I collect old Weaver Steel tubes. I have 2 such scopes as you are looking for. I paid less than a $100 for them. Most are unserviceable as hunters. Ask if they've been hunted !!
