God in the Old Testament is not the same kind of being he is in the new one. Christ taught love and gentleness - most of the time anyways - but in the Old Testament, there is much to be said for putting the fear of God into them.
The Jewish and Christian faith began moving apart with the life of Christ. The Muslim faith parted ways with the Jewish faith long before that, but if you care to do some reading you can trace things back to when they had a lot in common. Two sons of the same man headed down each of the paths and in fact it is written that their descendents shall never get along with each other. Someone who is more familiar with chapter, verse, and names can fill in the details if you wish. My point is that there ain't gonna be no reconciliation between the Muslims and the Judeo-Christians until such is the least of the world's problems and it's pretty much too late. We'll all be meeting our fates and the whole question of who is right will be settled by He Who made the Rules. Like an old song said, they will swear there ain't no heaven and pray there ain't no hell.
Speaking of that, have you noticed that the punishment for non-followers of Christ has switched from burning for eternity to simply not having eternal life? It kind of makes me wonder if I wouldn't rather simply cease to exist rather than spend forever in Dante's Inferno. I don't know when the switch happened, but when I was a kid it was either you got past St. Peter or you met Lucifer for a hot seat. Now, my preacher tells me that I will have eternal life or I will die, but reference to eternal discomfort is gone. Hmmm.
Billy, didn't you ever think it might be a good idea to get some religion going just in case you're wrong about the whole thing? What have you got to lose? More importantly, what have you got to gain?

Better yet, just get one of those Acog trijicon scopes and an AR to mount it on. That way, you can cling to your gun and religion at the same time.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I seem to remember the Bible saying somewhere that being a soldier was an honorable profession. I also recall that Jesus told the disciples at the last supper that if they had no sword, they should sell their garment and buy one. Of course, he also said that he who lives by the sword would perish by it. But Jesus would be the first one to tell you that there are worse ways to perish than by the sword.

---Can't argue that Jesus was non-combative, but I think there's more to it than that. The bible never teaches that there's anything wrong with defending one's country. And America didn't start this war.---

---Actually, Jesus lived, and died, under the Law of Moses, what you refer to here as the 'Jewish' faith. Not until 50 days after he rose from the dead, on Pentecost, did the actual Christian church get its start. The Muslim faith, Islam, came along much later, brought by Muhommad, the guy they call their prophet.
Abraham had two sons, one by his slave, Hagar, and one by his wife, Sarah. Hagar's son was named Ishmael, and was the literal father of the Arabs, all of them. Sarah's son was named Isaac, and was the literal father of the Jews.
There are places, such as Genesis 16 and 17, and others, where the bible says the Arabs will never be able to get along with anyone. Also, in Galations, it says they will be slaves.
So, you're in agreement with God that the Arabs won't be making peace anytime soon.---

---I don't know what you're referring to here, but it ain't in the bible. That hasn't changed. According to God, you'll still burn in hell if you don't go to heaven.---
